This months conversation is with the The Incredible Edible Akynos. The Incredible, Edible, Akynos (MF Akynos, for short) is a international burlesque performer and curator. A show-stopping entertainer who has curated, headlined, and performed in productions from New York to Europe, she is also a sex worker activist and has been performing burlesque since 2007. Akynos is the founder of the Black Sex Worker Collective, author, performance artist, and an educator in the fields of sexuality, HIV, and human rights. She has advised other non-profit organizations including Desiree Alliance, where she has spearheaded the arts track for the national conference, and the Best Practices Policy Project, where she works on UN Policy relating to women at the Commission on the Status of Women and during the Universal Periodic Review of the human rights record of the United States at the Human Rights Council. My official stage names are The Incredible, Edible, Akynos, Or MFA (MothaFuckin’ Akynos) It’s pronounced (Ah-Key-Nos). My tagline: “The Beast Of Burlesque” was given to me by performer friend Voodoo Onyx. I’m a New York raised stripper. Featured in nude magazines, music videos and adult websites since I was 17. I’m a MILF supreme, nappy hair having, 45” of ass, performance artist. You can find me taking it off in burlesque showcases across the globe but primarily on NYC stages. I’ve featured/headlined in showcases both locally and internationally. In 2009 I was the winner of the best soloist and judge’s choice award at the Boston Burlesque Expo. In the same year I was runner up for the Miss International Showgirl competition in Jamaica; (one day I will compete again). I’ve curated shows in my homeland of Jamaica at the infamous Hedonism II resort, NYC, Vegas, and DC. My last projects were Darkie, THICK and Dark. Nude. Storytellers. My new one-woman show “Black Pussy”, the scripted web series “Chronicles Of A Black Heaux”, and the social/whore commentary web-series “Whore Logic”, (currently on YouTube), all of which need your support and attention.

A leadership and program developer/organizer I am also a member of several different sex worker ran/lead organizations where I’ve lobbied in New York State against Condoms As Evidence and helped make recommendations on human rights policies at The UN. Some of these wonderful organizations which I hope you will support are: The Desiree Alliance, The Sex Worker Film & Arts Festival, Best Practices Policy Project, SWOP-NYC, We Are Dancers and The NJ Red Umbrella Alliance; because being a ho should be every woman’s [person’s] fundamental right. And sex work is work. Don’t debate me on that. I’ll tear you down.

I was a dance major in high school and had a short theater acting stint until I decided to take a long break to raise my children and deal with patriachy. I’ve performed in, competed and won many talent competitions since I was 12. These days I’m a borough famous emerging artist who holds two college degrees, working as a massage therapist and maid because something has to support my artistic habit. All the while I’m wagging my duster at you, screaming for the rights of every human to use their body and energy how they choose. Walk with me. -A

It's hard to overlook Maxime Iko, a regular on the techno scene, as comfortable in production as behind the decks and now under the guidance of the techno label B.Pitch. From an early age, he sparked the Parisian night within the Cockorico collective and their Bal'con nights from Rex Club to Badaboum, rubbing shoulders with his favorite DJs and quietly fine-tuning his skills. He now proudly represents the rave and queer scene, from Paris to Berlin: you can encounter him alongside Ellen Allien for the WE are Not Alone events, and recently in a very noticed set for the open air Wonderland. He serves up a mental and brutal techno with acid comebacks that oscillates towards psytrance. His latest track is a must-listen and he also excels in remixes as recently with Skorri for his release of remixes from his EP GOAHEAD!   Whether in warm up or peak time set, in b2b or in production, from lavish clubs to the most odious squats, he delights in all disciplines. Each of his appearances is an ode to the night, a bit like at midnight, when you blow out your candles, with excitement you catch your breath to finish in style. There is that in Maxime Iko, a joy of excellence, a hypnotic connection with the rhythm.

Difficile de passer à côté de Maxime Iko, cet habitué de la scène techno, aussi à l’aise à la production que derrière les platines et aujourd’hui sous la houlette du label techno B.Pitch. Très tôt, il étincelle la nuit parisienne au sein du collectif Cockorico et leurs soirées Bal’con du Rex Club au Badaboum, côtoie ses djs préférés et affine tranquillement ses gammes. Il représentante aujourd’hui dignement la scène rave et queer, de Paris à Berlin : on peut le croiser aux côtés d’Ellen Alien pour les soirée We Are Not Alone, et dernièrement lors d’un set très remarqué pour l’open air Wonderland. Il sert une techno mentale et brutale aux remontées acid qui oscille vers la psytrance. Son dernier track est à écouter de toute urgence et il excelle aussi dans les remix comme récemment avec Skorri pour sa compil de Remixes de son EP GOAHEAD !   Que ce soit en warm up ou en peak time set, en b2b où à la prod, des clubs fastueux aux squats les plus odieux, Il se plait dans toutes les disciplines.  Chacun de ses passages est une ode à la nuit, un peu comme à minuit, lorsqu’on souffle ses bougies, avec excitation on reprend sa respiration pour finir en beauté. Il y a des çà chez Maxime Iko, une joie de l’excellence, une connexion hypnotique avec le rythme.

"Istanbul à Facette - orignal mix » is addictive and intoxicating - an undulating, synthesizer-heavy affair that sits somewhere between the early 80’s electronic disco and the kind of psychedelic, Middle Eastern-inspired indie dance.

No doubt that Bozart has some strong musical references, for proof the "Nightcall mix" that strongly refers to his New Wave and cold wave influences. Regarding the remixes, we are glad to welcome the Italian finest, Musumeci with a reconstruction mix that pimp the original version to make it more perfect for club use.

Our founders, Melokolektiv & Konvex & the Shadow close this release with a great remix built around a heavy and hypnotic bassline. The remix plays with the Arabic vocal, adds a catchy melody and presents some percussion that highlights the breakdown.

Influencé par The Heavy, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, PJ Harvey, The Black Keys, Jimi Hendrix et CSS, le groupe basé à Paris signe "Bare Breasts (Femen Hymn)", l'hymne international du mouvement féministe Femen, qui scelle le début de leur collaboration. 

Western Fiasco prépare actuellement son premier album studio.

Influenced by The Heavy, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, PJ Harvey, The Black Keys, Jimi Hendrix and CSS, the Paris-based band kicked off their collaboration with "Bare Breasts (Femen Hymn)", the international anthem for the feminist movement Femen.
