The first act of my hypothetical-until-it's-not musical "Haha! Business!" 

This is a white collar comedy musical about a young professional who loves his job, but eventually learns the risks of coupling his identity too closely with the company he works for.  After embarking on an epic quest to overcome the competition, our protagonist learns a lot about business, and a bit about himself, and eventually find the path toward self actualization.

In the opening scene, a white collar worker wakes up in the morning gets ready and heads to the office, greeting and being greeted by his colleagues.  Upon arrival at the office, the receptionist welcomes us and introduces us to the rest of the office staff.

Joe, the protagonist of our hypothetical musical makes his way from the office to the office of a prospect he's been cold calling and email for the past few weeks.

Interlude 1 - Joe Drives to his meeting with a prospect

Our protagonist has a meeting with a prospective customer.  Before doing business this client likes to get a bit of rapport going - sounds like a great opportunity for some exposition and character development!

Average joe - Introduction to the protagonist

Our hero Joe manages to land a deal with a new client, and despite the fact that it didn't really take much effort - this bit of success immediately goes straight to his head.  So much so that he sings this song of jubilation as he travels back to the office to tell all his friends about his great win.

GOAT Salesman

the sales team nearly fell asleep during the very boring and poorly executed HR session, so they need a good ole call blitz to get them back in the mood!

This song has the whole sales team shouting "hey I'm in sales" from their cubicle, while we follow our protagonist in another quick sales call over the phone.

after realizing that the success of the company depends on his performance as a salesmen, Joe doubles down and makes some more cold calls to save the day!

Hey I'm in Sales (reprise)

This song is the monologue of the engineer.  In this he describes being "in the flow" where he gets his best work done.  Toward the end he laments being interrupted by sales guys who have a "quick question" and get all kinds of respect even though they don't create anything.

Buddy Country

Joe, after an unsuccessful sales call, heads to marketing to ask for better leads.  He finds that there are many people there who also have asks of the marketing department.  As the crowd overwhelms, the Marketing Director laments his role and the death of his young career ambition.
