Westwood is proud to present Kingfisha Remixed, a collaboration between Westwood Recordings and Australian dub/reggae sensation, Kingfisha.

With a love for heavy Jamaican-inspired rhythms and a strong sense of melody and songcraft, Kingfisha’s music is irresistibly soulful. Having firmly cemented their position as one of Australia's finest dub/reggae acts, the 6-piece band has joined forces with Westwood Recordings to produce a remix EP of their favourite selections from their self-titled 2012 album.

Over two years since it’s release, their debut album has won over fans around the world, picking up multiple awards and being added to full rotation on national radio stations such as Australia’s Triple J. Now, in May 2015, their album will take on a new life with Westwood Recordings calling upon some of their leading electronic music producers around the globe to re-imagine the bands intelligent lyrics and signature musicianship - breathing new life into their songs with the addition of a heavy electronic backbone.

Kingfisha - Piece of the Puzzle (Crazy Daylight Remix)

It’s apparent how much fun Qdup and EVeryman had while writing the lyrics for Joyride. They were on tour driving between gigs and pulled inspiration for being on a Joyride to the party. For these remixes, Qdup commissioned a few good friends to hop in the whip and reimagine the ride. First up is old friend and fellow Washington, DC native Wes Smith who relocated to San Diego, CA. Rusty Cravers is the new Future House side project of Vancouver’s Wood n Soo who are good friends from western Canada and part of the Danio Management family.

You may know Wes Smith from his releases on Punks Music and his own Juice Recordings imprint, Wes has really made a name for himself in recent years with his remixes and original production. This is the second Wes Smith Remix on Fort Knox Recordings, and his musical diversity shines well on this remix as he pumps up the tempo to a Jacking Funky House vibe. Wes Smith let EVeryman’s lyrics lead the track and drops a huge 808 fueled breaks breakdown in the middle which is sure to set the dance floor ablaze!

Rusty Cravers push the tempo up as well and remixed Joyride into a bass-driven Future House banger destined to wreck dance floors worldwide. Laden with infectious dark keyboard leads and more dubbed out vocals let their clean production style come through. Huge horn stabs push a driving house beat and a devastating sub bass that can flex any sound system set the tone for their trip to the party!

Minneapolis-based producer and vocalist Megan Hamilton fulfills her mantra of “causing funky riots and catchy house tunes” with her newest EP, Feed the Animals, out now on Gravitas Recordings. This latest offering delivers an amalgam of Megan’s two biggest influences, midtempo glitch hop and house music. Feed the Animals was inspired to bridge the gap between her influences and previous works to produce a polished extension of her current brand and sound. The four-track EP feature musicality and melody that simultaneously uphold the minimalism of house and contemporary weird sound designs.

A soothing music box commences “Cosmic Soup,” with a groovy soundscape and piano break that segues into progressive house and oscillating wubs. Featuring Freez, “Crash” incorporates funk and hip-hop with instrumental elements that spirals into a captivating, hypnotic techno sound design. Mesmerizing vocals in “Doin What I Want” bewitch listeners in a spellbinding enchantment that advances the techno wave. “Forbidden” prolongs the trance by consolidating Megan’s mystifying and melodic vocals with a bass house kick that supplies a satisfying conclusion to the EP.
