A remix from the Horse Meat Disco camp is a special thing.  Not only are you getting all of the expertise of four of the world's leading purveyors of dancefloor hedonism, but there's not a whole lot of them floating around either.  Tambi's "You Don't Know" appears on the second disc of their latest mix for Strut, which focuses on the after hours disco sub-genre of 'Sleaze.'   For their remix, the London lads bring the keys to the forefront and space out a bit under the track's powerful gospel-style vocals.  Download the track from the link above.

SWS Mix #22 | Marco | Road Trip

I spent the last few weeks digging through my downtempo playlists and emerged with a few takeaways. 1. A lot of these are definitely not downtempo.  2. I’ve really been wanting for a space to play a lot of these tracks! 3. This mix. 

So join me through the digging of Hardly Strictly Downtempo. Some songs are slow. Some are quite bass heavy. Some have a ripping guitar solo. Some I’ve been itching to play for years. Some are as new as last week. But basically all of them are so god damn long… so the mix got pretty lengthy.

SWS Mix #23 | Wet Pony | Hardly Strictly Downtempo

Released in 1975, the "Young Americans" album was recorded in the US, where David Bowie was living at the time under the heavy influence of philly soul and early disco sounds. On this record David surrounded himself with musicians from these scenes, most notably Puerto-Rican Guitarist Carlos Alomar, as well as Luther Vandross, who features on various side vocals. 

If "Fame" is, well, the most...famous track of the LP (and David first true hit with the US audience), the song "Young Americans" is extremely groovy as well, with its anthem-like chorus hard to resist.
