Peter Pixzel is a London-based DJ/Producer, co-founder, and resident of WetYourSelf!, the longstanding and
renowned weekend party at fabriclondon. He’s back on the label with another freshly squeezed package of
deepened underground jams as he presents his ‘Elements’ EP.
‘Kaleidoscope’ opens the release with positive charm, bringing a wave of swinging rhythmic components and
delightfully dubby melodic tones. Punchy drums and delicate hat grooves pave the way for a series of
enchanting synth melodies and a groovy bassline as dream-like textures bleed their way throughout the track
in this uplifting vibe-builder.
‘Bass Stalker’ comes next, taking the shape of a stripped-back roller. Building around another construction of
endearing drums and percussive layers, its arpeggiating synth melody and catchy bassline steer the track
towards an enriching additional analogue lead that will keep you on your toes.
‘Pivital’ brings the release to a close with the third of three welcoming subterranean cuts. Jacking drum grooves

Please, tell us a bit about Moscow Records...

Archie Hamiltion: We started Moscow Records in 2009. I think at that time we did it because we wanted to have a 

platform on which to present what we were doing musically. It is very difficult to make a mark in this industry as an 

individual. I think it’s important to have something that people can associate your music with. I did internships at CR2 

and then Defected when I moved to London after university, so I saw the workings of relatively big labels, but I had no 

real hands­on experience. The hardest part initially was to get distributors and shops to work with us, as we were 

completely unknown as artists. I think the hardest part now for me is finding the time to do the work. Along with my 

gigs, making music and trying to have some semblance of a normal social life, it’s not easy!

What are the label’s top releases so far?

I think for me, the best releases have been Kirik’s Stay Body EP, the Better Hide EP by Dan Farserelli and I, 

Moscillation EP by OdD, Lorenzo Chiabotti’s Adnur EP and I am very happy with my new one, Time EP.

Is there a concept behind the label? What are the musical boundaries if any ?

We set out to simply make and release timeless house and techno. Although I think we have a sound, I wouldn’t say 

we have any particular boundaries. I like to always have a strong dancefloor track on every release, as well as more 

ethereal or ‘intelligent’ tracks.

Label artists (who is on the label?)

The regular artists are Lorenzo Chiabotti, Dan Farserelli, Antony Difrancesco, OdD, Ferro

What makes the label different?

Everyone we work with... I like to get to know them first because I like to know what they are about as a person and 

where they are headed artistically. I take quality very seriously, so I am a real stickler for things like mixdowns, which 

can be very annoying for artists, but it’s always worth it in the long­run.

Influences, is there any other labels you are influenced by ?

When we started we were massively influenced by labels like Perlon, Oslo, Cadenza, Barraca, Circus Company, 

Cecille and Vakant...

Vinyl versus digital... what formats are you releasing on and what are your views on vinyl versus digital?

We release on both formats. Personally I think it’s important to have a physical representation of your work, although 

I do not believe in releasing in releasing exclusively on vinyl. There are plenty of people in the world who cannot 

afford, or are unable to purchase records and they have just as much right as anyone to own music. I don’t want to 

open up too much of a can of worms here, but I think people can take the vinyl thing way too seriously...

How long time do you leave between releases?

We don’t have a rigid structure; I don’t like to feel pressured into releasing regularly. When the music is there, and the 

time is right then we will release a record. However, the current lead time (up to 18 weeks!) from delivery to release 

doesn’t make things easy!

What are the visual guidelines in the label? do you work with a specific visual artist or use many different 

ones?

When we started, we wanted to think of a way to draw people’s attention to the records in store who have never 

heard of this label or the artists. It’s a tired old adage, but sex sells! We have a very talented illustrator called Mel 

Burns who draws all of the beautiful ladies that adorn our labels now.

Priku - WetYourSelf! Promo Mix

Known to us primarily for helming another of London's off kilter Sunday night parties, Damaged, Matteo Manzini is well versed in laying down the perfect selections for those wanting to get in one last dance before the working week commences. It's pretty apt then that WetYourSelf! have invited him to spin in just over a week's time and to honour the booking Manzini has recorded an exclusive mix for the WYS! crew which he introduces in his own words here:

"I don't record many podcasts because I'm never able to take them with a light heart. I mean, I really envy DJs saying 'oh it was a very spontaneous process, I just switched my equipment on and selected few records one after the other one while recording'. Maybe I'm not skilled or confident enough, or maybe I just over think every output made for going public and be exposed to my friends' ears and possibly to a wider audience."

"Also, there are many great podcasts available online nowadays, everyone is very competitive in terms of music choices and in terms of mixing skills and this forces you (me in this case) to manage things even more seriously. It took me at least a couple of days for deciding which tracks to be put inside, I made a sort of two level selection for going down to twenty ish, then another day or maybe two for trying them and finding a logical order I could be happy with."

"I decided, as I normally do even for my gigs, to respect the original media support, so what was in digital has been played through two CDJs and what was on vinyl through two decks, no ripping, no warping and no dubplates. All the tracks are released and available. I'm listening to the final result while writing this short description and I'm happy with it. All the tracks represent me at the time of recording (26/12/2015) and all the transitions are faithful to my current mixing skills, few mistakes included."

Performing back to back with his friend and the booker for Club Midi & the Mioritmic Festival, K!D Chriss, the pair's sets have become a thing of legend as regulars of Sunwaves Festival can attest and this exclusive mix that they have prepared for WYS! goes a very long way in showing the rest of the world exactly what is in store for their set this coming Sunday night in Room One.

They are known as Livio & Roby and they have been putting their own supernatural twist on house and techno for the past 10 years. Their connection with the global electronic music movement has been channeled via highly influential outlets such as Desolat, VIVa, Saved and Fumakilla. While their physical presence has been felt in a myriad of venues from Buenos Aires to Detroit, and across much of Europe. From dynamic DJ sets and innovative live performances to album projects and a constant flow of cutting edge, dancefloor-based productions the duo remain one of their nation's leading lights in the field.

Livio & Roby were born from the weeping souls of their ancestors, men and women who lived through centuries of struggle, from the poverty of the Middle Ages to the Communist rule that only recently lost its grip on the nation. It was only through the determination of a small percentage of brave individuals that it was still possible to hear music from overseas, in the most clandestine of situations – the true meaning of underground. Music found its way, against all odds.

Romania's spirit is evident in all aspects of their music; The tribal rhythms penetrate your psyche, the organic instrumentation lifts your spirit; flutes and vocals combine with delicate chimes, while groovy basslines and solemn melodies create a magical concoction. It's a formula that caught the ears of their early supporters, Steve Lawler signed them up to VIVa Music and Berlin stalwart Woody introduced them to the city's music scene via his highly-respected Fumakilla label. 

These early connections helped to spread Livio & Roby's unique blueprint throughout Europe, enchanting more and more influential figures. Next to fall under their spell was Loco Dice, who signed them to his Artist Alife agency and promptly released the seminal 'Mistique' – a track created in collaboration with the third member of this spellbinding outfit, George G, with whom they form Premiesku. Just like their unique partnership, Premiesku operates within its own confines – their live show is built around hardware that has been customised and reconfigured for their own use, without any computers involved. This gives them total freedom in their performances and allows them to express their own distinctive style.

Thanks to the consistenly high quality of their output, Livio & Roby have been in constant demand around the globe, sharing the spirit of Romania with the clientele of clubs and festivals across North and South America, Europe and further afield. Today, their endless travels continue, as does their entrancing musical output, from EPs with labels such as Vakant, One Records, Vakant and Cecille through to their debut Premiesku album, 'Indirect', which came via Desolat. 

2016 will see further adventures around the planet, Premiesku reform with new music and hit the road with their dazzling live act. The music played by Dragos Gabriel Dumitru, the Romanian-born DJ known as Cally, has close ties to one place. Originally from Craiova, he’s part of a new wave of minimal house DJs who emerged from Romania’s electronic scene following the success of the [a:rpia:r] trio in the late 2000s. 

Dumitru spent years developing his own take on the so-called Romanian sound before moving to London – another place that’s been pivotal in shining a light on the country’s rising stars. He’s now a resident at Stump, the underground party with a philosophy built on Romania’s stripped-back sound.

His party has seen him playing alongside some of Romania’s key players, but he’s also kept busy in the studio, with his work ending up on labels like Fear Of Flying and Cocoon’s fabled mix series. 

With Stump holding a firm place in East London’s party scene, more people than ever are hearing Dumitru play for the first time – outside of London he’ll also make his first appearance at Romania’s mecca for electronic music at Sunwaves this summer. 

More immediately he’s also playing in the club at this weekend’s WetYourSelf!, so he sent us over this mix of understated house to give us an idea of what to expect when he joins us in Room One.

Cally WetYourSelf! Promo Mix

If you didn’t know where Teo Bajdechi was from originally, after hearing his music you’d more than likely be able to guess. One of Romania’s key emerging artists, he plays a minimalist strain of four four commonly found among the country’s flourishing DJs. 

His main studio project is Uvar, the label he’s been running alongside Nu Zau since 2013. Fellow Romanian Nu Zau is a particularly close ally to Bajdechi – outside of their studio collaborations on Uvar, they’re also regularly found spinning together at parties like the adored Romanian festival Sunwaves. 

With Bajdechi making an appearance in Room One this Sunday, he sent us a mix of typically lean grooves frequently championed by WetYourSelf!

Sepp WetYourSelf! Promo Mix

This Sunday is a special one for WetYourSelf! as they prepare to celebrate their 11th anniversary. They are best known for being a centre of support for London’s best local talent but they also regularly nod to artists doing good things further afield. They’ll be bringing more of the same this Sunday, as Romanian experimentalist trio Amorf prepare to make their UK debut with a live set in Room One joining the full WYS! resident cast of Jacob Husley, Peter Pixzel, Carlos Ryan and Lamine.

Formed of Romanian minimalists Cristi Cons and Vlad Caia alongside pianist Mischa Blanos, Amorf are known for their largely improvised live performances, while their classical-influenced 'Blending Light' LP from last year was among one of the year’s best minimal releases. 

In celebration of this weekend’s birthday, the group have shared the unreleased track 'Downing Street', a typically jazzy ethereal house cut.

Cosmjn is a young producer and DJ tied to Romania’s fervent electronic music scene. His music has been released on labels like Subtil and Eastenderz, sitting somewhere between the type of minimal techno and tech house that the [a:rpia:r] trio famously championed. 

Cosmjn recently signed to the Sunrise roster alongside the likes of Raresh, Vlad Caia and Praslea – as good a gig as any Romanian artist on the rise can hope for. Behind the decks he’s frequently found playing with Lizz, another young Romanian signed by East End Dubs, where they typically play extended sets built on groove and subtlety. 

He plays at Arupa’s showcase at WYS! this Sunday, so he offered unreleased cut Soft Side as a free download to accompany an interview with Carlos Ryan.

This Sunday, WYS! and Meoko come together to showcase UP Festival in Room One. A long list of Europe’s top minimalists play the Prague festival this May, joined by some of the city’s top local talents. Bruno Curtis is one of these promising young artists. Born in New Zealand, Curtis’ interest in electronic music started with drum & bass, before a semester studying abroad in Lisbon introduced him to the city’s house and techno scene. He’s relocated to Prague since then, where he’s frequently heard playing minimal at the city’s best small parties. He plays this Sunday’s showcase as one of UP’s residents, so he recorded a mix of rolling grooves to share in anticipation.

Co director and weekly resident of WetYourSelf! at fabric, Jacob Husley returns to the label with his latest collection of work, the 'Close Your Eyes' ep. His last release for the label, 'I Got Sunshine', was a favourite for many and featured an array of impressive and exotic remixes from Chloe, Sian and Dexter Kane. 

The 'Close Your Eyes' ep sees Jacob flying solo as he presents four brand new tracks, displaying his trademark sound of spooky house and twisted techno. Lead cut 'La Cote Obscur' bathes us in waves of cool synths and its seductive accompanying vocal, from The French Edge, leads us through this mysterious region. The stripped and sparse title track matches a minimal beat pattern with its whispered vocal, "Dance like there's nobody's watching you". Perfect direction for this groovy techno workout. 

On the flip we are greeted by the marching kick drum of 'Here Today, Gone Tomorrow.' The regimental analog bass pounding is countered by its cascading keys and another of Jacob's spoken vocal top lines. One for the systems. The release is rounded out by the expansive and atmospheric 'Realise', again featuring vocals from Jacob himself. A track thats early intimacy belies its final drum-driven finale.
