Schranz is the name for European/German form of hard techno, a techno style that has about 140-150 bpm and is based on heavy basses, kicks, percussion and running synth sounds. The music style may have lower bpm in some cases. The term "schranz" originated in 1994, when Chris Liebing used the word as a kind of techno. Some assume that the name originated from the combination of two German words: schreien (calling) and tanzen (dancing). (says Wikipedia)
