Produced by Randall Dunn (Marissa Nadler, Sunn O))), Kayo Dot), Millennial Garbage Preach is Zen Mother’s third full-length release.  The group learned how to distill the most potent aspects of their sound through years of vagabond touring and have refined their approach accordingly. That ongoing refinement hasn’t stifled Zen Mother’s love for the grandiose— as evidenced by their acclaimed original score to Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Holy Mountain (released in 2019 under the title The Ascent). “I think we are possibly less experimental in our compositional style now,” Khot says of their current work.  Zen Mother continues, “We came to our good friend Randall Dunn with fully produced demos for Millennial Garbage Preach with the 5k frequencies blaring, the wrong elements too high in the mix and Randall produced this record into the dark gauze of anguish it needed to be. Tears were shed, Sheridan Riley (our drummer) just flew in from Japan two days before, Monika had strep throat the whole time... we all felt like we were on acid throughout the making of the record.”  
 
Zen Mother’s trio formation skews the project towards more formal songwriting, but also allows the band to indulge in their lofty ambitions and visionary impulses.  The curious nature and multi-faceted skills of the members makes Millennial Garbage Preach an almost untraceable effort, but Zen Mother never loses focus, even when it reaches for the esoteric. They continue, “I think you can hear some of the mania in Millennial Garbage Preach, after all music isn’t created in a vacuum and you’ll never be in a spot where everything comes together completely and succinctly. It’s the struggle that makes something totally worthwhile, and for us this record is a document of an imperfect time, and a totem of where we came from.”

New York industrial punk band POP.1280 will return on 6th December with their new album 'Way Station' on Weyrd Son Records.

The album's genesis took them back to when they were putting the finishing touches on their third LP, Paradise (Sacred Bones, 2016)

Returning to New York, hungry to write new songs, the band decided to rethink their musical model. Their weekly band practice nights became sampling sessions, the exploration of new and disorienting sounds that they could adapt to their new confinement. The simplicity of the duo led to an aesthetic of minimalism, and they could figure out how to perform the songs live later. Now was about expunging their systems of the creative virus. 

The door began to creak open when Matthew Hord (Running, Chicago) moved to New York last year and the band discovered he knew more about analog synth hardware than anyone they'’d worked with before in Pop.1280.

Lyrically, POP.1280 plumbed the deepest depths of their inner selves and also allowed themselves to translate those painful and fearful themes to new extremes of purpose

10 years ago, the members of SURE were travelling across France, Europe and sometimes the Globe, without ever crossing their paths. Their driving force was the same ideal of adventure and friendship : the one that urges every band, whether they play extreme music or mainstream pop, to loose a few life points for 40 minutes of magic per day.

10 years is the time needed for these dreams to go out or be transformed,and to imprint themselves into our skin, like tattoos that can be exposed after a few drinks. It’s also the time needed for new encounters, ones that were not part of our plan. After finishing each other’s sentences for a while, Michael, Nicolas & Gregory started writing new ones. When you’ve already done so many mistakes, it’s easy to avoid them.

Since 2016, the 3 boys of SURE are asking themselves if their true love forpop music is compatible with the distortion walls of their hardcore education. And if this darkness is justified in the face of their innocent andsensible minds. With «Twenty Years» being released today through the

indie scouters Weyrdson Records, it may be a hint that these questions don’t really matter in the end.

You could call it destiny, when 3 people end up together to create something they would never have dared to do on their own : savage music for the easy-going, made to dance on the ruins of a world bleeding its sense out a little more each day.
