London based Underlord is an Techno producer who is already popular with taste making DJ’s including Nicole Moudaber, Chris Liebing, Joseph Capriati, Pig&Dan and Maceo Plex. 

His music is regularly championed by Carl Cox who loved his track “King Size” so much that he selected it for his Space Ibiza 2016 compilation mix, and he has even been supported by the Godfather of Techno Juan Atkins. 

Track one titled “Lemon Sorbet” is all about the bass flutter, which adds a skip to the groove and gives the track forward momentum. Murky textures washed in delay skate over percussion, whilst the simple yet captivating melody keep you hooked. 

Second is “Underground” which combines bass stabs with rising pads and held chords that build with tension. Uplifting and dramatic, the progressive structure lead by looped percussion gives this Techno focused track an epic feel as it unfolds and blossoms.

'Block' is the third track on the EP and its rolling groove and looped pads compliment the booming lead sound that’s washed in reverb. Using a filter, the parts are slowly removed, stripping the track down to its core before the main drop. The filter opens allowing the track to spring back to life with an explosion of energy. 

Finishing the release are the chiming chords of “When” that with a sense of euphoria, has dream like aesthetics. Up-tempo with fast flowing percussion, the track paints a picturesque sunrise where light bursts through the cracks of an industrial landscape and shows that Techno doesn’t always have to be dark.

'What Came First' is a new label dedicated to House and Techno, which has been set up by the people behind the infamous EGG London club venue.

The new release is from Manu Gonzalez who is a DJ and producer born and raised on the Spanish island of Ibiza, who has become one of the island's top club spinners playing regular DJ sets at venues like Space, Pacha and Privilege.

Also a successful producer Manu has releases on Natural Rhythm, Isgud Records, Cr2 Records, and Hot Since 82’s label Knee Deep In Sound.

Regularly collaborating with Secondcity, Manu's music has also racked up peak time radio support from Annie Mac.

Through his legendary Ibiza DJ sets he caught the attention of the world, coming on top at the 2015 DJ Awards in the 'Ibiza DJ (Vicious Magazine)” category, and most importantly Pete Tong, who recently asked Manu to do a guest mix for his much famed BBC Radio 1 show.

Creating a tapestry of vocal textures, 'Back To 80' has a timeless sound with an evocative lead synth and prominent bassline. With a warehouse vibe and subtle rave influence, it's peak time and tailor made for the club. 

“Like This” focuses on an old-school drum break and MC style vocal samples that have a subtle Hip Hop influence. Smooth pads playing a held chord add tension and add to the tracks reminiscent vibe that fuses retro sounds with modern ideas. Perfect for any party, it fuses underground ideas with big room appeal.

“Last Call” has the rolling groove of looped live percussion, which forms the back bone of the track. Jazz influenced moody pads and quirky melodies blend with muffled vocals whilst the bassline provides the forward momentum. The perfect combination of musical elements, this track is both chic and dancefloor focused with just the right amount of swing.

The Willers Brothers are a London based duo consisting of Sean and Liam Willers, who have previously released on labels including Oblack Label, Nordik, Nofitstate, Beste Modus and My Favourite Freaks Music.

Not only are The Willers Brothers residents at EGG London, but they play regular international gigs and have previously played venues such as Watergate, Space Ibiza and Tresor.

Also hosting radio shows on stations including Hoxton FM, Bloop and Le Chic FM, The Willers Brothers combine elements of both House and Techno in their funky and groove driven sound.

The release also features Okain on remix duty who provides two alternate versions on the EP’s lead track.

French artist Okain is a regular headliner at EGG London, who as well as playing regular international DJ gigs, and is a premier artist whose music can be found on labels including Truesoul, Hypercolour, Tsuba, Cadenza, BPitch Control, and his own Talman Records.

Okain has also collaborated with Techno artist Paul Ritch under his real name Samuel Thalmann and a variety of other aliases including Lezar and Handycraft.

“Shimmy Shimmy” starts with deep bubbling synths that sit under a percussive shake that skips like a stone skimming over water. The track's name was inspired by its smooth sound that ripples and shimmers like a metallic liquid. Understated but still dancefloor focused the track is eloquent and intelligent House music.

Okain’s first rework of Shimmy Shimmy titled the “Forward Remix” provides a toughened up version, with some of the originals atmospherics replaced with additional rhythmical elements. Slightly more up-tempo, there is extra momentum provided by the Techno influenced lead sound.

The second remix of Shimmy Shimmy from Okain is titled the “Talman Remix” and it strips back the original to its percussion, which makes space for a luscious pad sound that leads the track. Gliding with poignant notation, the new synth sounds are warm and comforting, creating a mood that’s atmospheric and club focused.

“Seeing Them Out” has a quirky melody that works with the energy of the bassline and shuffling rhythms of the percussion to form the foundation of the groove. Finished with a muffled female vocal and some uplifting chords, this compact masterpiece is distinct and individual.

What Came First is a label set and ran by the people behind leading UK club venue EGG London, and its new EP is a melodic Techno release with original tracks from Metodi Hristov plus a remix from Kyle E.

Metodi Hristov is a Bulgarian based DJ and producer who has released music on labels including Octopus, Terminal M, Noir Music, Snatch! Records, Deeperfect Records, Rejected, Gruuv, Glasgow Underground and his own Set About.

Having released his first record in 2009, Metodi Hristov has for years been rising through the ranks of the world's electronic music elite. Many became aware of him after his 2014 Ibiza anthem “Step Outside”, which was listed by DJ’s such as Matthias Tanzmann as being one of his favourite tracks of the year.

Providing the solo remix is EGG London resident Kyle E, who many will recognise from John Digweed's “Live On South Beach” compilation, which featured the Christian Burkhardt remix of Kyle’s track “Arp For You Heart”.

The first track 'Wild East' has dark bass stabs that fill the track with menace and unnerving tension, whilst fast flowing hi-hats and a rolling bassline provide the energy. A melodic lead synth adds just a touch of euphoria, making this is perfectly sculpted dancefloor techno at its best.

Second on the release is 'The Room' that has throbbing low end stabs layered over pulsating bass tones. The lead synth is filled with suspense that contrasts against the gliding bursts from the melodic pad, lifting this relentless track that's packed with exhilarating forward momentum.

For the third and final track Kyle E reworks 'Wild East'. Keeping the originals lead keys, he adds his own bassline that grows with tension as the track develops. Using a dreamscape melody, his remix provides a deeper version for those who like things progressive and epic.

The new What Came First release is from Zaki, an artist some will recognize from his music released on labels including Diynamic and Suara, but many will be familiar with him via “Muak” where he is one the main people behind the brand.

Muak is an event, label and all round House music institute in London’s East End where Zaki is also based. One of the first parties in an area now infamous for House and Techno many living in England’s capital city are familiar with the Muak parties.

Zaki releases most his music through the Muak label, as well as being a main resident at the much famed events, which for their larger parties use EGG for a venue.

The releases first track “Lost In A Maze” has a heavy kick and a rumbling bass-line that provides a tough foundation over which prominent vocals and melodic pads are layered. The vocal’s spiritual content of being at one with music combined with the uplifting melodies, gives the track an epic sound that’s instantly captivating and tailor made for the club.

Second on the release is “Some Kind Of Feeling” which gets straight down to business with pulsating pads and a timeless lead synth that sounds both warm and familiar. Following the same formula of the first the track, it has a prominent vocal and uplifting pads with just a touch of euphoria. This time powerful and commanding, the vocal by Joe Le Groove provides the perfect party starting element.

Track three “Volume On” is more percussion lead than the previous two with some subtle chanting that gives the track tribal undertones. Uptempo and perfect for the dancefloor, its blend of vocal textures fill the track with energy, whilst the shuffling percussion provides the groove.

Finishing the release is “Lost In A Maze (Toolpella)” which as the title suggests is a DJ friendly acapella featuring the Lost In A Maze vocal, for those who want to get creative and layer it over other beat formation.

What Came First is a label set up by the people behind London’s world famous club venue EGG London as an extension of the venue and a platform to showcase its music policy.

The new What Came First release is an eight track compilation featuring music from people with close links to the club, some of them like Warboy, Tom Frankel and Sergio Sergi are artists who have played at EGG, others such as b0ld are fresh new talents who regularly attend the club.

Other artists who also feature tracks include Madison & Gaudier, Oibaf & Wallen, Nalimov & Papa Tunde, Iulian Badea.

With the exception of the artists who are making their first ever release with this compilation, collectively the others have featured on record labels ranging from Moan to Southern Fried.

Like the club, the release covers a full spectrum of Techno right through to chic sounding Tech House incorporating melodic grooves and big room beats along the way.

The new What Came First release is from EGG favourite D-Unity who comes fresh from a collaboration with Matt Sassari on Carl Cox’s label Intec.

Canadian artist D-Unity has previously released on a wide selection of labels ranging from Toolroom and Suara to Yoshitoshi, Armada and his own Unity Records. Often at the top of sales charts, his Techno anthems are regularly supported by everyone from Eric Prydz to Danny Tenaglia.

Track one “Crobar” has a rolling groove with fast flowing mechanical hi-hats and uplifting vocals that complement the tracks otherwise dark energy. Finished with low end bass stabs that twist with acid modulation, this is enthralling piece of music is perfect for club sound-systems and packed dancefloors.

Second is “Don’t You Want” that starts with tense pads and a pounding kick drum before unleashing the lead vocal. Hard-hitting in every sense, this track is filled with forward momentum and packs a real punch. Not for the faint hearted, this cut of up-tempo Techno is the perfect party starter.

Berlin resident Jonty SkruFFF steps up on Egg london’s What Came First, delivering two original tracks and a tough techno remix from Mute’s Daniel Miller.

Both Jellyfish Invasion and Warpaint originals been tried, tested and tweaked by SkruFFF during his monthly sets in Hammahalle, Sisyphos’ notorious warehouse-style cavernous main room.

Jonty’s two originals titled “Jellyfish Invasion” and “Warpaint” both have fast flowing percussion and dramatic synths that combined with their rumbling basslines, have a dark atmosphere full of tension. Daniel's remix of Warpaint is a harder and more industrial rework with added intensity and a pounding kick drum.

What Came First is a label presented by the team behind leading UK venue Egg London, and celebrating its twelfth release, this is a special birthday EP from Techno legend The Advent with a remix from Egbert.

Opening with “Valiant Keys” its vocal phrase loops short sections to build tension until it opens up with tender bursts of clarity. Layered over a pounding kick drum with rattling synths and eruptions of white noise, the rolling groove of this hands in the air slice of Techno is perfect for the dancefloor.

Track two “Exchange” starts with the flicker of mechanical hi-hats and stabbing synths that blended with the twisted melody, fuse to form a groove that’s packed with forward momentum. Growing with intensity as the track develops, each bass drop is bigger than the one before, as it swells with thrilling suspense.

The third track on the release is Egbert’s remix of “Valiant Keys” which is fast and furious, lead forward by a thumping kick drum. Allowing the original's vocal to be the main focus, Egbert adds his own sinister lead synth and uplifting pads that combine to make an eerie atmosphere full of gripping anticipation.

Up next on What Came First, we've got an inviting, driving EP from Anderson Noise & Sugar Hill whose sound we have championed at the club for the last 15 Years and featuring a remix by L_cio.

D Edge resident and Brazilian Electronic Music Legend Anderson Noise has teamed up with the latest emerging artist to come from South America - Sugar Hill - to release their debut WCF three track release.

'Voodoo' kicks off with well rounded, hypnotic drums which steadily roll into tribal tinged percussion, which blend with an indecipherable, trippy vocal before developing into a cacophony of analogue layers - an instant injection of energy ignites to set any dance floor alight.

'Sarava' is a creepier, absorbing track with a prowling bass line and subtle rhythmic developments throughout the production. It's a raw, gnarly cut suitable for an intimate space where you can play down a deeper, darker sonic tone.

L_cio leaves his stamp on the production with an more intense, uplifting remix of 'Voodoo', packed with stabby synths, and laced with an addictive spine-tingling melody. It's a euphoric edition of the original, perfect to end any set on a high with that relentless, gripping energy throughout.

Our latest release on what Came First has been produced by Italy's newest export, Knowhat, who has delivered two original works blended with shades of uplifting house and tech house rhythms.

The original track 'Feel it' is a high-spirited, house-infused creation with soulful vocals and punchy drums, showcasing the artist's ability to shy away from the driving tech house sound he's usually known for.

'Make My Body Groove' is a sultry, alluring piece with infectious, groove-tinged percussion. Suitable to captivate any dancefloor worth its salt from the beginning to end.

Frankfurt based producer Basti Grub is also featured on the EP, re-working the title track. Having touched it down with a minimal techno bass-line, Grub has artfully kept the male vocal hook rolling throughout the mix.

Each producer adds a different element to the EP in their own unique way, some going down the route of chunky, crowd-pleasing productions while others have gone towards a trippy, hypnotic sound for the more discernible dance floor.

After releasing a slew of EP's from a range of established artists, WCF Volume 2 is about highlighting the new names who have left an impression on the club over the last year.

Joining the WCF imprint with his 'Distorted Time EP', the Manchester based Transcode brings his driving sound to Egg LDN's in-house label to showcase his versatile approach to production.

With the vinyl press being released at the beginning of November, followed by the digital version, which includes the bonus track 'Backlash', due out on 14th December, the EP includes two remixes by the club's close friends Secret Cinema and OC & Verde.

'Timewarp' opens up the release, immediately setting a tripped out tone with its distorted vocals and a slightly menacing melody, which bubbles under the surface throughout the track.

'Rotation' is a slightly darker and dubber production complemented by crisp hi-hats and well-rounded drums. It is a perfect intro to building up an extended set.

Secret Cinema leaves his stamp on 'Timewarp' with an ominous Remix of Transcode's Original. Again, it fits into the shady feel of the EP but the Dutch producer brings an enchanting feel to the track, with a twinkling melody laced throughout.

Manchester based OC & Verde bring their stamp to the release with their remix of 'Rotation'. Using a blend of drawn-out synths to build up a powerful lead, packed with raw percussions, it certainly shows the sonic direction the duo has been working on over the last year.

Completing the digital edition with a bonus track, Transcode rounds off the EP with 'Backlash'. A punchy and unrelenting track, it's a peak time tune which is one of those tracks for a heaving dance floor to relish in what the Mancunian producer is all about.

Egg London's What Came First Recordings host, Swiss producer, Eveline Fink's 'Morning Contrast'
EP, featuring 2 minimal groove infused cuts with remixes by German maestro Tobi Neumann and
club's resident Kyle E.

Electronic music has long fascinated Eveline Fink and her debut on What Came First ties in for her love of
minimal sounds, in both laid-back and club-orientated environments previously seen on her Enough! Music
releases. Influences from the past, the present and perhaps even the future are the key elements behind
Eveline's sonic vision and drives to pursue new projects.

The first track 'Contrast' opens the EP, a stripped back production with subtle vocal samples to give off a
dark, moody feel to the track. Tobi Neumann's remix of 'Contrast' is an intensely hypnotic take on the
original, blending twinkling melodies with crisp percussion throughout.

Keeping in tune with the minimal feel of this release, 'Morning Dust' deploys an alluring lead melody, a
wavering bassline balanced gracefully with shimmering drums together giving the track a Balearic feel. Kyle
E's 6AM Remix of 'Morning Dust' rounds off the pack with a beautiful dub production featuring a
mesmerising breakdown and fluttering rhythms throughout.
