SELF-RELEASED (2010)

Deceive is the second self-released EP by What Contemporary Means. Recorded in early September 2009 by Chance:Risiko and presented at MEI in November, contains 4 brand new tracks in full version. Fickle Dealing (By Means Of Extravaganza) and Yeah! were already "classics" by the band and their current arrangements are the result of a long practice live during the previous 12 months. Long For The Quiete and Kröger are instead more recent compositions. Their inclusion in the EP is meant to represent the latest influences on the band's songwriting. Deceive is also the first production What Contemporary Means made with the current five elements lineup.

Like Swimming was (home)recorded between June and September 2008 and is the first EP What Contemporary Means ever made. Contains the acoustic versions of some of our early tracks and the first releases of songs which were still to be played in electric. Homerecording was both something we were forced to since we wanted to keep full control on the recordings (and didn't own a proper recording studio...) and an experiment. We kept the sound rough, so that the listener could actually feel the touch on the strings or even the accidental noise of the instant the song was recorded, in order to make him part of it. The result is songs played like we didn't know we ever could.

LIKE SWIMMING REMIXED (2011)

What started out as a joke between friends and raised track by track, Like Swimming
Remixed has ended up becoming the third official release by What Contemporary
Means. Yet for the first time the bandʼs role has been relatively minimal; instruments
have been left aside whilst a whole crew of remixers have taken over songs from the
acoustic debut Like Swimming (2008). Loops, samples and beats turn tracks into
something completely new, often resembling the style of each remixer.

The tracklist kicks-off with drum'n'bass delirium Some Lucky Numbers by After
Crash, followed by a reggae/dream pop experiment carried out by Chance:Risiko on
First Morning. Then it's time for some fat beats performed by T.Bone turning On
Sunday into a turntable killer tune for sweaty dance floors. Sashimy keeps the drinks
flowing and the result is the drunkest-ever version of Lisbon. Monkeeastronout then
slows things down a bit and leaves for a breathtaking trip into depths we never
imagined I'm Not Talking could have.

Like Swimming Remixed gathers for the first time different bands and DJs from one
of the best hidden underground communities in Bologna.
