"“Vidita” EP (Global Hybrid Records/42 Records) is a taste of the new album by Go Dugong (Italian producer based in Milan), coming out in March 2018. A global music devotee, Go Dugong continues a journey, started with “Novanta” (42 Records / Fresh Yo!) in 2015, through exotic sounds, passing from Africa to Latin America, always trying to mix instead of embracing a predefined genre. If the topic of “Novanta” was that of the metropolitan cultural clash, this album was born with the aim to dig deeper and find its roots.

The inspiration comes from the enchantment of the first civilizations, whose myths and legends are inevitably linked to nature and the universe; This generates songs inspired by tribal beliefs, mythological figures, rituals and esotericism which, not by chance, often refer to divinities or superior civilizations arrived from outer space. The result is again a hybrid of rhythms, styles and musical genres: Afro, Andean and Amazonian music, dub, psychedelic and cosmic blend with the aim of telling a journey; Go Dugong’s research leitmotiv.

The single “Vidita” is a tribute to the folk music of the Argentine Northwest; the wild song of the Andes is played by Miriam García, Argentinean musician and actress as well as one of the greatest researchers and performers of coplas, poetic compositions typical of the traditional Andean rural culture.

The remixes have been entrusted to the world citizens El Búho, Rafael Aragon and Carlomarco. The artwork is by the Italian artist DEM."

We have the pleasure again to premiere one track from Oxyorange´s new compilation "CATHEXIS" following last year debut "SWORDS" and we maintain our words when saying "they are the makers and users of an irreverent local scene with a global vision with intention to establish a new platform form upcoming young talented artists who don´t really care about genres, restrictions and conventions". This time the Mannheim, Germany based collective choose to open the doors to family and friends coming from different corners of the planet, bringing togehter names like Vacuum Systems, Sport Eyes, HUK, Airøn Kølarøw, MSTK or BOGOSS-LACOSTE to name a few. For this premiere we choose Kid Cala´s bootleg of 2012 Falsetto & Sammy ft. Nengo Flow "Yo Se Que Tu Quieres". Taking advantage of the addictive effect of the original vocals the Madrid based producer managed to bring a whole new flavor adding a subtle fast paced  Dembow rhythm, original ethereal pop sweetness, finding an efficient contemporary perspective that clearly shows the potential of the new generations´s takes on more traditional genres, helping the travel from periphery conceptions to the urban diaspora worldwide. Kid Cala is also releasing a new EP "Colocado"  through Breaking Bass Records at the moment.

Embracing all things bass and genre bending producions, UK based duo
Diezmo is back with a new single called "Caustic", a bass-heavy Progressive House song featuring percussion duo Alibombo from Colombia and release as part of Folcore 8th anniversary compilation.

The single that you can find now through UFO Recordz (STK Group) (S. Africa)and Teknofonic (US) will have 2 remixes, 1 by Diezmo and Daak Sun and another one from the Hungarian sensation called Baq which we have been following for some time since his remix for Rafael Aragon and Gan Gah remix for Babylon Records.

On "Caustic", Baq takes advantage of the powerful and vigorous elements of the original and creates a brand new rhythm pattern halfway between broken techno and dancehall together with clear influences from Siberian/Hungarian folk traditions in the way he uses percussion and melodies. Baq moniker shows his more danceable side while he also explores soundtrack composing and abstract music with different secret projects.

"0h85 - City Moves" is part of debut release compilation coming from San Francisco platform Samsara Beats that is well known for their mix series. "Syncopation", curated by fast paced beats don Johnathan Thomas and label owner HNGVR, brings together a group of their favorite producers and beatmakers from 10 different countries to create a track each, exploring the always fascinating world of Halftime D&B, Juke and Footwork-Jungle. 

Pittsburgh based Dj and producer 0h85 brings "City Moves" to the table, taking Chicago to Detroit in a powerful 8bits acid Juke meets Jit. The adrenaline in this one is big, imagery easily puts us in the middle of an illegal race driving or just a late night long ride with Big Sean in the background whispering "I make the city move". "Syncopation" is out March 16th for free.

Premiere: 0h85 - City Moves [Samsara Beats]

How it's supposed to sound the soundtrack inspired by a ghost island? This is the challenge that Mexican (Celaya, Guanajuato) producer Ptomlo offers us in his recent EP "Hashima", the 14th relese of Mexico City Raccoonin Records. Using the abandoned Japanese island of Hashima he puts into practice an introspective journey through the Island and through himself as a sound explorer. Behind, humans left exploitation. Mark of the rapid Japanese industrialization, the Island was used for coal mines and forced labor prior to and during the Second World War. Today only nature breaks the silence  
between the abandoned concrete buildings left behind after total evacuation. 

Inspired by the celebration of "movement" as dance for music (specially the 4x4 pattern) or as human interaction with nature, Ptomlo uses Hip Hop, Techno, Psy Trance and unusual sounds to place this interaction between the endogenous and alien. Using synths like SERUM for basslines or Tyrell, Zebra, Obxd, some Arturia, Tunfish and Triple Cheese for melodic elements he then
applies sample techniques for Buenavista Social Club, Rihana, Suntree or simple vocal packs he transforms in something very personal. 

The track we are premiering today, "La Vida" does not break the rule of the concept and overall sonority of the EP, capturing the essence of the Hashima Island, between the melancholy and the expectation that nature once more take is course.

Audio-visual Mexican project Pro.tone is back with "Interjection" EP for the UK independent record label, promotional channel and online bass music platform Simply Deep. With 3 powerful original productions "Remote", "Point A" and "Swipe", the EP is backed by also tasteful remixes coming from Aerotonin, Plaza and Kinsman.

Following his participation on last year Jelly Bean Farm´s compilation "Enter", some picks of his sounds for Rinse FM sets or his own guest sets for Lucid London, Bajo Fest or the Warehouse Rave Mix Series, Pro.tone is slowly and solidly gaining his space into the UK Bass music scene. We are premiering today the track "Remote" taken from "Interjection" EP which can also
be used as a presentation card of his signature sound, huge cinematic synthlines halfway between the club and the rave (the same can be said about his rhythm patterns), Dancehall meets UK Bass meets EBM/industrial. "Remote" uses cleverly the classic "Badman Sound" sample to place us in the middle of his journey and his influences but we can easily find more by dissecting some elements such the tension created by using juxtaposed melodic elements or the fast paced variation of the beats that keeps making us aware like a movie thriller. Just by listen her self-released EP I got addicted to the unusual blends of sounds she produced.Her love from genres so contrasting as Metalcore or Club music can be witnessed in her sets (listen the set she did for our radio show here https://soundcloud.com/guardarecords/rewind-it-222-lacroixx-blog-with-miss-jay) but when it comes to her own productions she chooses dancefloor experimentation as you can confirm with this exclusive track "Pro Werk". Created around the well known sample "Pop It Like A Pro", Miss Jay deconstructs the raw drum patterns from Jersey/Bounce to adopt a minimalist refinement, the breakbeat is now just a bass heavy and fat kick booty dance machine ornamented by Ballroom/Vogue functional sharp synth stabs, perfect bed for Techno elements such the spaciousness of the dark melodies. 

"With this track I wanted to experiment with sounds that I've heard in vogue (dj's like MikeQ, Byrell the Great, Skyshaker, LSDXOXO... but I wanted to maintain my "signature sound" putting my own spin on it at the same time. With my productions you can expect any genre, it depends on my mood and what I'm getting into at the time. "Pro-Wek" is a solid club tool from Miss Jay showing us how to turn a club house party into a warehouse rave.
