Swine Tax - Chronic (What We Call Progress Remix)

Drawing inspiration in equal parts from the guitar-driven alternative pop of bands like Everything Everything and futurebeats/indietronica of Nicolas Jaar, Don’t Stop, Meteorite builds tension around a tightly wound guitar riff and a skittering, insistent drum beat, before erupting into an shimmering chorus. The lyrics deal with the tension between viewing recent global political and environmental events and feeling a nihilistic despair for humanity, while simultaneously appreciating our human need for other people - the need to meet, tonight.

It was released on March 30th 2019 and is the first single from their forthcoming EP, Peace on Earth.

Peace on Earth is about wrestling with and ultimately rejecting a worldview which promotes guilt, shame and the need for a personal 'saviour'. Growing up in the evangelical Christian "free church" movement warped our perception of the world and our sense of who we are; Peace on Earth is a defiant rejection of that and an attempt to reclaim a positive view of oneself and others outside the narrative of endless sin and forgiveness.

It delivers a message of refusal and release over WWCP's most accessible, indie-pop influenced song to date. Layered synth and horn hooks swirl with angular guitar and heartfelt vocals.
