William Hayse and Dolph Chaney collaborate on a power pop anthem for Jason Rich and John Wheeler's record collecting podcast, Vinyl Ventures. William, Dolph, and Jason Rich played together in their very first, high school rock n' roll band back in the late 1980's in Indianapolis, Indiana. After a 25 year hiatus, Dolph and William wrote and recorded a theme celebrating the joys of music, memories, and lasting friendships. An effort was made to recreate the fizzy, sizzling guitar tones created back in the 1980's by our tiny solid state Peavey amplifiers struggling to be heard over pounding drums in a sweltering summer garage. You can almost smell the heat coming of the overworked transistors!

They say that every rule is made to be broken. One of my rules with songs is to try and keep them general and vague enough that anyone who listens to the song can identify with them. Try not to let your head get big enough that you think that people are clambering to read your life story because it probably is not as interesting as you think it is. On this song, I broke that rule. This song is a biographical narrative of my wanderings, a recollection of the loves I lost along the way, and a warning that I can't sit still for too long. Some folks are born and are content to spend the rest of their lives where they started and to be happy there. Some of us were born to wander, always wondering what is around that next corner or over the next hill. I don't think it is a conscious decision to be one or the other. I think that it is just in our blood and bones. Some are born to stay in one place and some of us are born with vagabond hearts. This song is my tribute to the wanderers, the gypsies, the restless spirits, the drifters, and nomads, whether in body or spirit or in both. Our home is everywhere and our home is nowhere.
