Wrote this song in like 2017 when I was living in Mexico City and seeing all the jacaranda trees bloom in spring. I was also listening to a lot of Jim Croce at the time, for some reason, which becomes clear when you hear the song. Someone else said it sounded like "American Beauty" era Dead but I don't really hear that.

I wrote this song about my great-great-grandfather, the episcopal Rev. Ernest McGill, of Catoctin Furnace, Maryland, who presided over the funeral of the railroad workers killed in the Ransome Wreck of 1905.
