Astral Records opens the new year by welcoming Far From Home & Retoric to the label for their first collaborative project. Based in Argentina and comprised of Lautaro Lopez Delgado & Lucas Amicone, Far From Home crafts mystical melodic techno which takes listeners on a journey. The duo's otherworldly sound has found a home on Be Free Recordings, Coalescentia Records, Heinz Music, Sequence Music and more. Astral Records has also been a home for the duo's cutting edge style, making their label debut in 2022 with the well received 'Gates to Atlantis' EP. Meanwhile, Spanish artist Retoric has made impressive strides since first emerging in 2019 with an EP via ARKHAMRA. The Madrid resident has earned the praise of Tale Of Us, The Element and Oostil, while continuing to display sophisticated sound design and memorable musical themes throughout his productions. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Far From Home and Retoric begin 2024 on Astral Records with 'The Arrival', alongside remixes from Paul Anthonee and LORRAINNE.

Tash's Movement Recordings rounds out the month of January by welcoming Nosh & SJ back to the label for a new EP. Emerging in 2013, the Indian duo quickly became residents at some of Mumbai's trendiest nightclubs, while their distinct sonic aesthetic landed them key production credits via Dopamine Music, Eat My Hat and Juicebox Music. 2023 marked the duo's Movement Recordings debut with the well-received 'Energy High' EP, a two-track showcase with both selections still sitting atop the duo's Beatport Best Sellers almost a full calendar year later. Now, as 2024 begins to take shape, Nosh & SJ make a welcome return to Movement with their second artist showcase 'Unleashing The Power'. Nosh & SJ's keen dancefloor sensibility is always present in their productions and the title selection 'Unleashing The Power' demonstrates that perfectly. Dark and energetic from the outset, the duo assembles a powerful selection of razor sharp stabs, crunchy rhythms and robotized vocals, sitting atop a framework of spacious basslines and thunderous kick drums. In contemporary fashion, the vocal expands across the break, carrying with it waves of anticipation as electronics fire and drum rolls towards a club-effective finale. The second selection 'Dance of Existence' proves to be a worthy complement with its tough, driving energy. Punchy beats power the groove, while percolating rhythms and shapeshifting overlays add space and intrigue. Continuing to evolve as the main break commences; emotive melodies and calming atmospheres create a unique emotional response, before a timely vocal motif cues an electrically charged final act. The third and final selection 'Dreamscape' continues the crossover style for which the duo have become so beloved. A rolling low end sets the track in motion as clustered melodies, acid stabs and buoyant rhythms move through the framework as the main break approaches. Foggy and mysterious, the interlude sits at the core of the storyboard, with its timeless appeal and crisp effects eventually revealing modulating bass and percolating acid lines, before a striking vocal sample sparks a finale of 303s and uplifting melodies to round out the EP perfectly.

Release Info: 
A harsh kick drum slices its stompy way through the snowy dust which covers the Radikon headquarter in early winter Berlin. Ukrainian polytalent 'Arude' counteracts any form of upcoming Christmas romanticism with a his upcoming dance floor magnet titled 'Nocturne'. 

The namegiver is a celebration of the strobe lit habitats of all technoid counterpolulation. Drums and bass perform a stoic dance maneuver on the down- and offbeats, topped with a seasoning of sawtoothy melodies. A small break offers a pause for breathing halfway through, just before another rush of bass breaks loose. 

'Your Move' starts off on a playful rhythmic fairground with a not particularly subtle invitation to give it all on the floor. The simple off bass doesn’t move a millimeter from the root note, leaving plenty of room for all other elements to shine: Glidy arpeggios, wide intense pads, FX’ed voices. All in all 'Arude' creates a nostalgic longing for the maximal house movement of the late 2000s.

Few artists make fringe soundscapes as powerfully accessible as Mila Journée. Channeling an eclectic array of leftfield sample chops and mangled synth hits into a highly danceable frame, the Brazilian artist’s four-tracker ‘Diving’ transforms Lo-Fi aesthetics into avant-garde dancefloor weapons with remixes by Lehar and Losless for Dessert 026.

‘Diving’ unleashes erratically pitch-shifting synth salvos that flare across its compact substructure of spartan grooves and electric stabs like bursts of energy in a malfunctioning machine. Losless’s rendition tames the beast, coaxing Mila’s exploratory synth work into a more stripped and cinematic structure of sub-heavy impacts and tearing saw waves.

‘Who Am I’ sets grating resonance and hybrid percussion to a compact groove. Pitching vocal stabs and discordant synth hits fearlessly explore the outer reaches of dance music and dissolve the borders between the club and the avant-garde. Lehar beautifully reimagines the track’s raw leftfield aesthetic as a nostalgic synth mantra set to an up-tempo drum groove.
Mila Journée takes dance music to its aesthetic limits, challenging listeners' conventions and expectations.

Incorporating uncommon concepts like dissonance and harshness into body- moving club tracks, ‘Diving’ pushes the boundaries of dance music while staying firmly grounded in unadulterated club energy.

Jittering layers of bass, intricately intertwined endless loops of harmony, monumental drum rolls and drops that sent compelling power strikes across the dancefloor as if some kind of sonic lightning strikes. 

Add-us do their thing - that thing that made the duo from Stuttgart a sure-fire success: Melodic Techno of the highest order. The trancy synthesisers of 'Escape' provide exactly what this title stands for, namely an instant escape from the grey gravity of everyday life. The twilight atmosphere of this tune clearly aims at the most active hours of a party. So does 'Hurricane', yet another aptly named track. Or, rather: An aptly named sound vortex. The rotating energy of this tune draws us towards the climax of a party once again. However, here the vibe imitates the intangible, yet absolutely compelling energy of the element air.
