Our 29th Chapter showcases the versatile talents of British artist JOBE with the heavy-hitting ‘Changes’ EP.

JOBE - previously responsible for one of Chapter 24’s biggest-selling tracks ‘Aurora’ - has released as widely as Akbal Music, Connaisseur and Steyoyoke. On this occasion, he serves up a balanced four-tracker combining cosmic, afro and techno influences.

‘Rafari’ is the opener. Marked by characterful sound design and swirling disembodied tribal voices creating a strong sense of disorientation, the track is held together by the hefty and assured drive of the main groove.

‘Anomaly’ showcases a more considered side to JOBE’s production and marks a shift of emphasis to harmony and composition, as layers of synths swell skywards before their satisfying return to earth.

Meanwhile, ‘Boma’ is a return to the tense, cosmic afro drive that is bound to set dancefloors aflame, before title track ‘Changes’ rounds things off with a powerful slab of progressive techno.

Four stories in sound that demonstrate JOBE as being totally unconcerned with the constraints of genre, and entirely fixated on creating music that is both timeless and forward-thinking.

The Berlin label WHATIPLAY starts a new series of EPs under the slogan “Tunes”, on which several artists present yet unreleased tracks. It kicks in in form of the “Tunes Vol. 1” EP which contains tracks of the label boss Sascha Braemer, produced in a collaboration with his WHATIPLAY fellows Marian Herzog (“Hoes Feat. Pete Josef”) and Alexander Remus (“Detention”). “Tunes Vol. 1” is completed by the track “Paragon” of the Muscotive producer Igor Bartyuk, who makes his first appearance on WHATIPLAY. Tune in!

Mit der “Tunes Vol. 1”-EP startet das Berliner Label WHATIPLAY eine neue Serie von EP’s unter dem Slogan “Tunes”, auf denen verschiedene Künstler bislang unreleaste neue Tracks vorstellen.
Die “Tunes Vol.1”-EP beinhaltet Tracks von Labelchef Sascha Braemer, die gemeinsam mit seinen  WHATIPLAY-Kollegen Marian Herzog (“Hoes Feat. Pete Joseph”) und Alexander Remus (“Detention”) produziert wurden. Pipe and Pochet label boss Ali Farahani graces us with an EP filled with all star support. L'Atto is a sexy anthem with remixes from Armando Letico, SAAND, and Timboletti. Mix a little Italian vocals with some thumping beats and you will hear why this EP smashes the sexy spectrum.

London-based DJ and producer Anii is welcomed to the AEON fold with her mystical ​​Magic EP. She invites the indomitable forces of Man Power and Kiwi to each provide their own take on her original productions.
Speaking of the EP ​Anii ​​explains that she had ​“been working on it for the last couple of years. It’s a project I saved and changed so many times, that I even forgot to name it. In the end I thought the name can just be Magic!”.
Opening the EP, ​Magic is littered with glistening percussion, tribal drums and mysterious exotic undertones. It’s an immersive track and one that begs you to get lost in it its rhythm. Me Me Me label boss Man Power adds a harder edge to his extended version that veers off midway with a huge, pounding bass and a furious flurry of synths. Trojan Horse ​is a dark and hypnotic affair with middle-eastern influences and industrial percussion. Kiwi puts his own stamp on the closing track adding a low, growling bass and subtle distortions.
Anii is living proof that hard work pays off. Since arriving in London from her native Poland, she’s earned a solid reputation for playing high quality melodic techno and has appeared on line ups alongside Kolsch, KiNK and Michael Mayer. She’s had releases on revered imprints including Kompakt and Polymath, and this latest EP on Alex Niggemann’s esteemed label marks the beginning of a fruitful relationship.

Shunus makes his second appearance on WAYU Records with another powerful and consistent musical production. An EP that could not be more suitably named, “Peripheral” demonstrates Shunus’ ability to explore the outer edges of many genres without stepping far from a conceptual proposition. 

In this brand new EP, Shunus successfully incorporated industrial elements into dry and groovy rhythms, maintaining a Melodic Deep Tech sound by adding subtle hi-hats and arpeggios throughout all of the tracks. Not only was he able to bring new fusions into Peripheral EP, but he also introduced his own voice on 2 tracks; demonstrating his versatility.

If that is not enough, Shunus invited two talented artists to be part of this release; Emiliana, a Colombian up-and-coming singer who collaborated in the track “Don’t Forget to Dream”, and Urmet K, a producer based in London, who delivered a fresh perspective on the track “Vibrations”.

When Sobek & PALMFood team up for a common EP it's not about the rise and fall of the producers but rather about 'Ascent Descent', while the latter shall not be interpreted in a way it depicts their careers but the arrangement and sound selection of the track itself. With both artists making their debut on Stereo MCs label Connected and an impressive release catalogue over the past months and years, the producer duo takes on a rhythmically influenced approach for their three tracker 'Glorious Miles' EP. 'Ascent Descent' takes its listeners onto a wild journey, shaped by the warm an percussive elements the track starts with and which set the base for the subsequently introduced chords. The hypnotic potential becomes evident as the track continues and is elaborated when male vocals are added. As the track proceeds it's hard to withdraw from its mental power and just when you think you can the track releases its listener to the warmth of the percussions. It's the ascent and descent aspect or a trackname skillfully worked into a musical piece.
