 A faixa “Nagô”, lançada originalmente em 1971 no álbum Muita Zorra! do Trio Mocotó, é uma joia do samba-rock com tempero de funk, jazz e psicodelia. Escrita por Antônio Carlos & Jocafi, a música carrega a essência de uma época em que a batida nascia da mistura entre Jorge Ben, cuíca, pandeiro e timba — nas jam sessions históricas do Jogral, em São Paulo. Foi ali que o samba-rock ganhou forma, e que o Trio Mocotó — formado por Fritz “Escovão”, João Parahyba e Nereu Gargalo — se consolidou como uma das bandas mais inovadoras da música brasileira.
Mais de 50 anos depois, DJ Tuca resgata essa obra e a leva direto para a pista. Em N’Agô, ele preserva os vocais originais e a clave do ijexá, mas reimagina todo o arranjo: percussões quentes gravadas por Cris Monteiro (Cridão) e instrumentação completa por Daniel Raizer — com baixo funkiado, guitarras múltiplas, piano Rhodes e Hammond.
Tuca assina os beats e o arranjo com estética house, criando uma releitura moderna, dançante e cheia de respeito à raiz.
N’Agô não é só um re-edit. É uma homenagem. Uma ponte viva entre a ginga do passado e o groove do agora.
