One of the exponents of the international Progressive House scene signs a release on Warung Recordings for the first time. We are talking about Khen, DJ and music producer who integrates the notable generation of Israeli producers within the genre, alongside icons like Guy J, Guy Gerber and Guy Mantzur.

"Maple EP" is a release of two songs, "Maple" and "Some Little Secrets". The title-track is prog house at its best shape: striking and dry beat, which delivers the rhythm as melodic layers of pads are gradually emerging, in progress. The tone is of an epic journey, charged with emotion; close to two minutes, when piano notes and synthesizers enter the scene and take the lead, the skin prickles, with the feeling that something great is about to happen.

"Some Little Secrets" is more minimalist and tribal, being closer to organic and tech house. Here, the imposing and elongated melodies give way to a synth riff that is stretched in a loop during the track, while a tropical beat builds its base. Around four and a half minutes, we are enveloped in a powerful break that, as it clears the rhythmic part, delivers layers and layers of reverb synth, until it explodes at the climax.

This is the #43 release of Warung Recordings and the first by Khen on our label — who developed a special relationship with Warung since 2019, when he first played four hours at one of our 17 year anniversary parties.

'The latest release on Hicky & Kalo's label Plaisirs Sonores Records is a scintillating package, which brings together two titans of the progressive scene. The EP features two progressive house legends; Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren alongside their collaborators Soundexile and Nicolas Rada. They have both remixed tracks taken from the most recent Hicky & Kalo EP 'Borealis'.

It's been quite a ride for Hicky & Kalo in the last 18 months. The young duo have made a name for themselves in the progressive house scene with a string of quality releases, including a collaboration with Seth Schwarz and releases on Hernan Cattaneo's label Sudbeat and Cid Inc's label Replug. In the meantime, they were remixed by both Rodriguez Jr. and Sahar Z. The reaction to their latest EP 'Borealis' was quite something and the title track was even in the Top 100 Beatport Progressive House for 67 days.

With this powerhouse remix EP now on the way, it is surely the cherry on top of a momentous last 18 months. We hope you enjoy it!'

Cid Inc's Replug Records opens the 2019 summer season by welcoming Alex O'Rion to the label for his debut EP. As one of the Netherlands most highly regarded and sought after artists, the Nijkerk resident has found a home on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, where he has released three artist EPs since making his debut in January of 2018. Also a highly regarded DJ, Alex has programmed music for some of the world's most iconic clubs, namely Ministry Of Sound and Fabric. Now fresh off a Spring release for Nick Warren's Hope Recordings, the Dutch artist lands on Replug for his debut EP entitled ‘Marathon'. 

Continuing what has been a remarkable year for Alex is the EP's opener and title selection ‘Marathon'. Enticing from the start, it's perfectly sculpted beats are warm and powerful, anchoring what is a rippling, free flowing foundation. Crafted with precision and care, layers of hypnotic percussion are blanketed with swirling atmospherics, ghostly vocal edits and fragmented melodies. Intrigue peaks as the main break unfolds, with hazy harmonic concepts and granular design uniting for an exhilarating apex, before ushering in a groovy drop and emotive finale. 

The journey continues with the driving vibes of ‘Blaze'. Immediately captivating, it's billowing bass tones and finely tuned percussion play off a robust rhythmic core, making for a devilish, hip swinging groove. It's hypnotic appeal grows subtly, as vocal fragments and luminous tones add an emotive slant to what is an already mystical storyboard. Almost like a sonic comet, it's fiery energy melts down into a break of muted beats and astral designs, before a collage of tripped out harmonics sets the stage for an otherworldly conclusion.

The release is capped off in fine fashion with the introspective moods of ‘L'Arbre Des Contes'. Expertly joining the past to the future, Alex marries sophisticated melodic motifs with meditative rhythms and tranquil textures. It's a unique and highly engaging storyboard, perhaps one of the Dutch artist's most heartfelt to date in fact, a creation to cherish for special occasions and no doubt a highly memorable selection for your dance floor. Groovy and emotive in equal measure, it rounds out what is an astute collection of music from Alex O'Rion, making for yet another extraordinary addition to Replug's impeccable discography.
