Darin Epsilon unveils a captivating sonic journey with his latest track "Janissaries", released under his esteemed label Perspectives Digital.  The production showcases his signature fusion of Melodic House & Techno and Progressive House, and blends intricate melodies with powerful rhythms, taking listeners on an immersive exploration of sound.

"During a recent tour stop in Istanbul, I embarked on a memorable visit to Topkapi Palace, the historic residence of Ottoman sultans for over four centuries.  It was here that I learned of the legendary Janissaries, the most elite and fiercest warriors of the Ottoman Empire.  This song has been a secret weapon and closely guarded ID in my sets, and I'm thrilled to finally unveil it on my own imprint this summer."

A prominent figure in the global electronic music scene, Darin has established himself as a versatile artist known for his distinctive blend of several different styles.  With a career spanning two decades, he has garnered widespread acclaim for his dynamic performances at renowned clubs and festivals worldwide.  Beyond his prowess behind the decks, Darin is also recognized for his prolific output as a producer.  His tracks have found homes on esteemed labels such as Ritter Butzke, Katermukke, Einmusika, Renaissance, Selador, and Siona Records, amongst dozens of others.

As the latest gem in Perspectives Digital's illustrious repertoire, "Janissaries" reaffirms the label's commitment to showcasing cutting-edge electronic music. XYZ and When We Dip present the Selectors series, where we give our family of producers an opportunity to display their prowess behind the decks. Expect unreleased material from across the label collective, as well as classic gems and heady grooves from some of the underground's finest selectors.

Robin Schellenberg is our guest this week on XYZ Selectors. The German producer just released the 'I Am Not My Ego' EP in collaboration with Rauschhaus on top of previous releases on Stil Vor Talent and Einmusika to name a few. In this set, Robin plays tracks from the likes of ALADAG, Adrian Roman and Denis Horvat.

Premiere: Michael Antley & Carlos Che - La Noche [Baikonur Recordings]

Time to welcome a new name to the TAU family, as Samer Soltan makes his debut with us. The Belgian producer has made his presence felt over the last year or so with a steady flow of solo cuts, remixes and edits, along with some exemplary DJ mixes. Samer runs his own label, Sanctuary, and he’s recently released with Solomun’s Diynamic. On the 'Hurricane' EP we find Samer flexing his creativity and demonstrating why he’s fast becoming hot property, merging a variety of flavours within his distinct sound.

'Emotions’ takes things into a more introspective space. A dense low end chugs along, while the percussion adds plenty of energy and movement. Hypnotic rhythmic structure captivates us, while the vocal teases in and out as the track builds to a crescendo after a breather midway through. A slow builder where Samer showcases his mastery of subtlety and patient arrangement.

Hurricane EP

Premiere: Samer Soltan - Emotions [TAU]

The latest release from Ruben Karapetyan’s RKP welcomes Matt Oliver to the label for his debut EP. On the strength of early tracks such as 2021’s ‘Spirit’ and ‘Missing’, the Brazilian artist quickly caught the interest of progressive music fans. Having success marrying the nostalgic grooves of the genre with emotional melodies and club-effective rhythms, Matt became a newcomer to watch. The next two calendar years would see Matt continue to perfect his craft, and in turn land standout projects via long-standing imprints such as BCSA, Mango Alley, The Purr and Transensations. Now, as one Brazil’s top progressive house prospects, Matt adds RKP to his resume with ‘Collison’, alongside remixes from The Wash and Anton MAKe.

The first interpretation of ‘Collision’ is provided by The Wash who makes his label debut. As a DJ first, Austrian artist The Wash has spent nearly two decades in the electronic music underground. A ten-year stretch as a DJ would find the Vienna resident programming music for some of his country’s trendiest venues, before eventually embarking on a career as a producer in 2016. The next seven years would see The Wash build an enviable portfolio, highlighted by releases via Forensic , UV and Mango Alley, the latter of which operates as his primary home. With a contribution to Global Underground’s ‘Select’ series to begin the year, The Wash now adds RKP to his resume with a huge interpretation of ‘Collision’. Opting for a dubbier, more groove-centric approach, The Wash aims squarely at the dancefloor, taking the track into subversive territory, as haunting overlays and deconstructed sonics converge for an otherworldly experience, while an acid-tinged break fully saturates your senses onwards to a trippy finale.

Premiere: Matt Oliver - Collision (The Wash Remix) [RKP]

Thandi Draai, a leading lady in the Afro house scene, has made her mark through her influential radio show in South Africa, her numerous great singles and compilations for Get Physical, and her work on this pivotal label. She is a DJ, producer, and vocalist who is shaping the global Afro sound. She collaborates once again with fellow scene figurehead Cee ElAssaad, a chart-topping artist known for his versatility and celebrated for his collaborations with artists like Antonio Ocasia and Janne Tavi. 

The magnificent 'Ashambeni' is an almost eight-minute journey into deeply captivating drums and soul-stirring synth craft. The bright sequences loop and rise up through the mix while the spine-tingling vocals are rousing and empowering over organic percussion and moving bass that will sweep up the dance floor.

A rising Brazilian star with a growing portfolio of high-quality releases to his name, Tonaco makes his Meanwhile full EP debut with the 3-track 'Disurbia / Avalon / Crackdown.' 

After first appearing on July 2022's 'Meanwhile Excursions' compilation with 'Sententrional,' Tonaco now returns to Meanwhile with a first full solo EP. 

The final track sees 'Crackdown' continue the percussive narrative of earlier tracks as a hypnotising combination of tom fills and carefully placed melodic rhythms combine to create a soundscape full of vitality and brio. Building at the half-way stage with a wonderful bassline pattern, a light and airy melody then fills the sonic spectrum into a gloriously evocative breakdown of echoing keys and spatial effects, before dropping back into the smooth rolling groove of toms, hats and driving beat.

I had the peaktime midnight slot with the honor of playing after Lee Burridge, so I started this one off with an organic vibe then transitioned through prog, tech-house, and just some straight up bangers. A few unreleased ID's in there from my boys Enamour , m.o.n.r.o.e and Saqib.

Also funny moment: you may notice that the set just abruptly ends. That’s because the next act accidentally unplugged the wrong cable from the mixer. Was definitely a nerve-wracking moment….BUT my recorder also recorded the crowd noise, so it’s kinda a cool little audio capture of what it felt like...and you can literally hear the next DJ say "OH SHIT!!" ....The warm applause from all of you certainly softened the blow :)

DAWPERS Paris will release on 30th May its  7th release 'Larkz' , the debut EP of Leon Piers, a Bristol based producer who usually releases under the moniker Falcon Lake. With ‘Larkz’, Leon takes a step away from the meloncholic dreamyness of Falcon Lake and gives you a look into the darker, more off-kilter side of his productions. Joining forces on this EP is Border, one of the many guise's for Welsh artist, Bradley Albertides. Border is a paradox of conformity, bending corners with sound design and industrial anarchy.
