Exploring this theme of journeying beyond our strict sense of self, label mates and friends Tale of Us and Mind Against have joined together once again to create a work that works, fittingly, well past the summation of it’s parts. Playing with tension and release and a restrained but expressive sonic palate that paints a picture without words, these accomplished artists from the Life and Death team bring us to a place that seems to surely exist. Even if we might not be able to pinpoint exactly where that is.

Steyoyoke welcomes newcomer Simon Sizer to the family with 'The Ages Of Man' EP. An ode to the greatness and grossness of humanity, Simon Sizer greets us with three original compositions consisting of 'Aethra', 'Ares', and 'Seven Against Thebes'. 

'Aethra' sets the tone for the EP with a modern, unique approach to track arrangement. A rollercoaster of unexpected turns, Simon Sizer takes the listener down new, unexplored terrain in the prologue to an epic trilogy. 

'Ares' collects and redistributes all preconceived notions of melody and rhythm, taking on a new form with dangerously tantilizing synthetic sounds which tickle and taste the aural pleasures deep within us all.

'Seven Against Thebes', a perfectly poignant piece which captures the ethereal glory of gloom and techno in a single track. A fury within, the 'Seven Against Thebes' stand strong in this ode to the final trilogy of Aeschylus's legendary literature.

Simon Sizer surrounds his sound with historic, deeply moving themes, truly encapsulating 'The Ages Of Man' in music.

‘Days Gone’ is the highly-anticipated return of core Afterlife act and fans favourite, Mind Against. A year after their ‘Solaris’ EP (AL002), the duo of Alex and Federico Fognini show once again why their moving, supremely-produced tracks are held in such esteem.

The title track takes you to another dimension, with a synth line spiralling into cosmic space and drums beating into oblivion. ‘Cloud Nine’, a classy, comparatively-understated cut for the early hours brings the energy back down. Pig&Dan debut on Truesoul with a stirring personal work, while Raxon adds an energetic remix to package.

Pig&Dan possess one of the finest pedigrees in techno and are faithful contributors to Drumcode, dropping their most recent EP – the excellent ‘Infinity’ – in February. ‘Promised’ marks their maiden release on DC’s little brother imprint and has a heart-breaking story behind its creation as Dan explains: "whilst enfolded in sadness we started to write a record dedicated to the loss of my son due to a terrible road accident. The vocal says it all ‘you promised you would live forever’ symbolising that your child will usually outlive you as the parent.”

The track’s lilting organ line makes a haunting accompaniment to the vocal, while tender synths and deep grooves ensure it’s a beautiful, timeless tribute. Egypt’s Raxon, who first debuted on Truesoul in 2017 with the ‘Heliopolis’ EP, delivers a tougher peak-time rework.

Diynamic Music’s „Picture:“ series is a document in time, showcasing an artist’s current creative output in order to allow the listener to visualise and understand the artist at a certain moment.
