Luis Couñago Luque, so der bürgerliche Name von MoM, griff zu den Kopfhörern und hörte sich die Nummer an: „Ich war total vom Sound der Flöten begeistert.“ Also nahm er sich der Nummer an, um einen Remix nach seinen Vorstellungen zu basteln. „Ich sprach mit meinem Freund ANuT (@soul-36), und wir begannen, mit dem Track herumzuhantieren." Seirenes is a kind of excursion into the Homeric epics and at the same time a very close and intimate feeling of longing into which you can fall. In the course of this work @lyhre had dealt with Greek mythology as well as the symbolic power of the siren, which gave rise to these synthesizer sounds, somewhere between the feeling of an entire orchestra being submerged in water and the clear, almost steel sound bordering on pain. In the midst of it the seemingly incessant repetition of the vocal, a verse, somehow isolated. In these few words she already tells a large part of this whole. Seirenes is a narrative, but not a heroic song. Perhaps it’s a lingering echo, an echo of all the stories so often revived, told by the siren itself.

When the whole world is asleep and it feels like it’s just you, on your own, it can be wonderfully calm or horribly isolating. Although the band have been in different locations this year, they have often found themselves in the same sleepless state. Lotti navigating the early days of motherhood, Dom struggling with tinnitus and Daniel working nocturnal hours.

In this twilight search they began exploring white noise and sharing ambient albums, gathering a palette of sounds that would form the basis of Somnum. Creating a standalone piece of music to coincide with World Sleep Day, Somnum is a mostly instrumental offering from HÆLOS. The band maintain their trademark cinematic soundscape whilst employing a more improvisational tone where the individual sounds are laid bare.
