It doesn’t get much bigger than this: Adam Beyer links up with Green Velvet and Drumcode’s outstanding rising star Layton Giordani for a debut collaboration.

Some musical partnerships feel fated. Both fans of one another’s work, for years Adam Beyer and Green Velvet had discussed writing music together. In turn, Beyer’s protégé Layton Giordani had admired the Chicagoan’s work for as long as he could remember. When the 25-year-old found himself playing alongside the green mohawked legend at Belfast’s Shine, the spark and subsequent friendship was immediate. With the links now set in place, it was only a matter of time before the trio’s creative chemistry would manifest musically.

‘Space Date’ was conceived organically and birthed quickly. Propelled by Green Velvet’s trademark vocal hypnotism, the triumvirate combine to craft a pumping intergalactic slice of techno laced in melody that’s highlighted sets by Beyer at Awakenings, Ushuaia and also EDC Vegas when Green Velvet dropped it to a raucous response. The track is complimented by ‘Rome Future’, the product of a year-long series of productions between Beyer and Giordani. Deftly combining crisp drum work, catchy vocal effects and a powerful bassline melody that gives the track an almighty kick, it will be familiar to many who’ve followed their sets over recent months.

Matt Sassari is Truesoul’s first debutant of 2020, landing a punchy four-track work.

Hailing from the French port town of Marseille, the emerging artist caught Adam Beyer’s ear with strong cuts on imprints such as Relief Records and Sci-Tec. When the emerging artist begun sending demos, they quickly connected with the Truesoul boss and ‘Crack Body’ was rinsed heavily throughout the summer months of 2018.

Such is Beyer’s A&R style, patiently waiting for all the pieces of the EP puzzle to take shape, Sassari’s maiden release for the label has finally found form. The title track – familiar to fans from DCR415 – is a groove-packed party-starter brought to life by a rousing vocal sequence. With its bumping bottom end and attitude-packed vox, ‘Bruuh’ is a colourful and energetic addition to any set. ‘Everytime I See You’, is soulful techno made for big occasions, led by a memorable vocal and shuffling beats. ‘Cooking Drums’ displays Sassari’s penchant for building plenty of swing from the ground upwards, as chopped up vocal effects lay atop a sturdy bed of drums to create a useful DJ tool.

There Is A Light – the brand new imprint from LA-based DJ, producer and label head Arash Homampour (a.k.a The Archer) – will officially launch on January 29 2021, with the eagerly-anticipated release of The Archer’s debut EP, "Lonely Dream."

Established as a platform to champion some of the brightest international talents in electronic music – as well as being a home for his own prolific stream of productions – Homampour’s wide-reaching musical knowledge, spanning everything from Deep House, New Wave, Disco and Techno, will lie at the heart of everything the label represents, as he looks to deliver a consistent run of diverse and quality output over the course of 2021 and beyond.

Kick-starting the inaugural player with the emphatic title track Lonely Dream, The Archer makes his intentions known from the off as he combines rhythmic tribal percussion and a haunting vocal hook with spine-shaking basslines and impressive production values across both the Radio edit and the Extended mix, to deliver a truly impressive debut outing on TIAL. 

The middle order sees The Archer flex his A&R muscles for the first time on the nascent label, as he enlists French maestro Matt Sassari to put his unique spin on the resounding opener. A pioneer of the new wave of techno that’s been sweeping across France over the past few years, Sassari’s minimalist, yet hard-hitting interpretation explores a more underground timbre than the original, as the Marseille-born talent further builds on an already stellar career discography. 

Last but by no means least, TIAL welcomes critically-acclaimed Japanese production duo Drunken Kong to take care of closing duties, with another juggernaut remix of Lonely Dream. With a wealth of releases on the likes of Tronic Music, Octopus Recordings, Stil Vor Talent, Terminal M and Natural Viva (to name but a few) over the course of 2020, the in-form duo look to kickstart the New Year in fine fashion as they amalgamate techy basslines, frenetic drum patterns and huge crescendos in perfect accord, to conclude an incredible debut EP on There Is A Light.

Speaking about the launch of the label and this first release, The Archer commented:
