'Promoter, DJ and producer, Anton Tumas has been at the vanguard of the underground dance scene for a number of years, now, he debuts on Balance Music with a stunning new interpretation of an all-time classic.

A DJ who has played at the Robot Heart at Burning Man, Desert Hearts, and Lightning in a Bottle, plus founder of the Subtract residency and label of the same name. Anton is also no stranger to the world of music production with releases on quality labels such as All Day I Dream, Sudbeat Music and Subtract.

Over 2-years in the making and also presented in the all-enveloping Dolby Atmos format, “The Sky Was Purple” is a painstaking and hugely impressive recreation of Nathan Fake’s iconic track. Centred around the James Holden remix, this new reworking is a glorious and faithful representation of a timeless classic that oozes class and technique. Immaculate in conception, this 12-minute journey extends the original and takes it in stunning new directions as familiar melodies and progressions are blended with modern production techniques. The result is an exquisite new variation of a classic that drives relentlessly forward in majestic fashion further enhanced by the addition of a beatless Reprise that showcases the spellbinding aural tapestry.

A stellar cast of remixes opens with iconic German artist, Andre Lodemann. A veteran of releases on the likes of Poker Flat and Defected, the Berlin-based producer has created an innovative new interpretation that turns “The Sky Was Purple” on its head. Familiar pads and soundscapes float across a rolling beat before a growling bassline enters the fray. A sprawling landscape of sounds fire across the stereo spectrum before a new arpeggiated sequence then hits the heights with a nod firmly towards James Holden’s original phrasing.

Next up is the highly skilled and prolific producer Jamie Stevens who is no stranger to reworking classic tracks. Retaining the core melodic themes of the original, his skill is to generate a new vision that bristles with bassline brio and reverse reverb. The central melodic pilar gently filters into sonic range in the early stages and breakdown, before erupting in the second half with an exquisite snarling bass sequence that glides with ease against the trademark synth line so fundamental to the original.

Another Australian producer with decades of experience is Danny Bonnici, and a name synonymous within the electronic music scene, returns to his best with a blistering remix aimed directly at the dancefloor. Driven by a chest-thumping kick and head-shaking percussive groove, his remix then blends original elements from “The Sky Was Purple” with a host of sounds and atmospheric effects that swim in dizzying fashion around the listener’s head, especially at the stripped back breakdown. Evocative pads reach through the mix as the track gains momentum once more in frenzied fashion during a dramatic closing movement.'

Separately successful solo artists in their own right with hundreds of releases on labels as diverse as Multinotes, Selador, Lowbit and Mango Alley, it’s their collaborative work of late that has raised their profiles, with plays from the DJ elite and coverage on UK BBC Radio 1 and music press including Mixmag. 

Opening the EP is ‘Restless’. Rolling bass bubbles and sidechained pads create instant movement before the kicks add focus and direction. Keys and subtle sonics fill out the soundspace as the track takes shape. Daft Punk-esque guitar lines add a sense of fun in the breakdown before the bass drops and the floor is a gyrating mass of positive energy once more. ‘Stargaze’ is more upbeat from the off. Moroder-style bass and disco stylings create a funky modern feel that marries contemporary prog with indie dance further implied by the keyboard lines and nu disco energy.

microCastle's second offering of 2023 welcomes Ivory back to the label for his third producer showcase. Based in Milan, Italian artist Daniel Tagliaferri aka Ivory has been at the cutting edge of electronic music for the better part of a decade. Comparable to the path of his contemporaries, Daniel has found a way to create a personal universe by exploring electronic sounds, and ultimately finding his own place in the trend-driven state of underground dance music. Fully formed within the creative confines of his Milan studio, Ivory's third microCastle project 'Persona', follows on from 2021's 'Light Through Water', a seven-track affair which continued Daniel's mission to create bold synthesizer symphonies from the tools of the club. As an evolution in his sound, the release was significantly more stripped-down and dancefloor-friendly than his label debut 'No Scale Can Resize You' yet continued to demonstrate and build on the Italian's penchant for sophisticated sound design and memorable musical themes. Moving forward, 2022 proved to be a monumental year for Ivory, with the release of his debut album 'Feelin' sitting as the highlight, a release which was preceded by the immaculate EP project 'Rain'. The year also saw the Milan resident gain further recognition as a DJ, as he continued to exhibit fresh programming along with thrilling pace and flow, in turn becoming an in-demand presence at major clubs and events throughout the world. Now, following a string of impressive remixes to begin 2023, Ivory makes a welcome return to microCastle with 'Persona'.

Coming for a Musician family was at the young age of 17 when Aracil moved from the north of Spain to London, and discover his passion for the electronic dance music, making, that same year, his first appearances as a Dj within the local scene.

In 2012, Aracil moved to Ibiza, and start to work on his first productions. 
A mixture of energy and harmonies defines Aracil personal sound, which rides between the melancholy and euphoria that distinguish a very unique style of production, as he is always trying to push forward the boundaries, and tell a story with every song. His style as a DJ ranges from pure deep house to melodic techno, with many influences of music from Berlin.

His last production is set to be release it on Einmusika Recordings in October this year, alongside the German producer Nicone. 

Since 2012, Aracil has been part of the Ibiza scene, performing in most of the best known venues of the Island, Sankeys, Space, Pacha, Privilege, Ushuaia or Km5, Destino Pacha among many others, leading him to be chosen by Emerging Ibiza as one of the best new incomer DJ/Producer of 2015, and participate that same year in the DANCEFAIR IBIZA. 

Aracil is currently combining his Residences at Heart Ibiza and Acid Sundays, with his work as a producer and touring dj.
