1980s instrumentation in terms of synthesizers and drum machines were used to get that authentic feeling. Still, you could exchange all sounds via the given MIDI files to be coming from your favourite software and hardware synths or drums.

The kits have drums tracks with separate mixdowns, basslines plus 3 melodic synth lines. The latter are sometimes chords, leads, or arpeggiators. You might continue to arrange these kits or add lines or get inspired by single loops.
