This is probably one of the dj sets I've liked the most. It is also really special because It's the first time I play by myself and also with my friend Nassam Estibill at La Feria Club.

For many years, musicians from the southern hemisphere have brought diversity to the electronic scene through their music and labels - Sei es Drum, Cadenza and Ruta 5 are testament to this. Many of the first generation of Chilean electronic musicians had to leave in exile for the old continent – mixing their heritage with Europe’s culture to great success. From the mid-90s until today, this nexus has maintained an effervescent creative energy in Chile. Currently, the second generation of Chilean producers - influenced by Villalobos, Luciano and Dandy Jack among other greats - are following in the footsteps of their predecessors and showing their country's sound around the world in meccas of techno and house like Fabric London, Panorama Bar, Amensia, Rex, Concrete, Montreux Jazz Festival and Resolute NYC. We now arrive at Drumma’s 17th vinyl release where we bring together three producers from the new blood: Luis Ordenes AKA Umho, Felipe Venegas and Alejandro Vivanco.
A1 is the most abstract cut in the vinyl - syncopated and jazzy rhythms, a solitary fretless bass lead pays tribute to Jaco Pastorius and jazz fusion tracks from the 80s. It’s an edit to listen to at home or use as a tool in a cutting edge club or party. B1 Smoke Enjoyable is based on a Rasta Man talking about the benefits of smoking marijuana – this version integrates the musical language of dub using analog tape delays typical of the genre. We conclude the EP with a remix by Chilean musician Alejandro Vivanco – recognised as one of South America’s finest producers. His remix brings us minimalist soundscapes along with mysterious, modular textures. An excellent addition to this release from the southern hemisphere.

Andrew Meller has been on an incredible run of form recently having smashed the Beatport charts with his remakes of classic tracks such as Faithless' 'Insomnia' and the all-time holy grail of Underworld 'Born Slippy'. His talents do not stop there though, he proves here that he is more than capable of penning some serious underground sounds as he delivers 'Godfathers Dance' and 'Honey'.

'Godfathers Dance' leads the charge here and has been a secret weapon in label boss Nic Fanciulli's sets for time now. This bubbles along really nicely with a warm and funky bass line, some lush, tribal percussion and some great horn additions that really add to that dance floor energy. 'Honey' on the flip is more menacing in it's delivery with a sinister synth pattern and a tough drum workout for those slightly tougher floors.
