Steyoyoke’s latest EP features smooth vocals by Canadian artist Terry Grant that compromises two originals by Soul Button, one piece by Soul Button and Aaryon, and a remix by Animal Picnic, coming together to make one tear-jerking EP. This ethereal techno tugs playfully at your heartstrings, with it’s moving melodies graciously complimented by beautifully contrasting dark lows and piercing highs. 

‘Wraith’, a melodic masterpiece composed by Soul Button, features an array of distorted synths which give the listener a warm feeling. Terry Grant’s reassuring vocals help guide you through this musical journey, adding an essential layer of identity to this track. A dreamy track featured on this EP, the combination of Soul Button’s impeccable technical skills coupled with Terry Grant’s homely voice make for a killer combo. 

Soul Button’s ‘Demise’, a suitable name for such a tragically sweet track, features dark lyrics by Terry Grant which contradict his calm voice. The sharp kick accompanied by the incredible chord progression featured in this beauty gives one the impression of haunting dream; like a lost love visiting you in your sleep. ‘Demise’ can give you chills in the centre of a sweaty dance floor.

Soul Button partners up with Aaryon and hits the nail on the head with another original titled 'Substratum'. The two composers have managed to craft a single piece that remains true to both styles. The chiming synths, mingled with the groove of the rides and shakers, emanates a dangerously delightful rhythm that could carry you into another universe!

Animal Picnic’s remix of Soul Button’s ‘Wraith’ is also featured on this EP, and the Steyoyoke regulars certainly know how to add their own spices to the dish. Accentuating their keenness for the more upbeat Steyoyoke sound, they manipulate Terry Grant’s vocals, stretching them out to create a nostalgic effect. Adding their own drums and synths that create an almost jungle-like vibe, Animal Picnic make their mark on this wild remix.

Soul Button, Terry Grant, Aaryon, and Animal Picnic have joined powers to bring you this psychologically spiritual EP packed with wistful drops and melodies. Another unforgettable treasure in the Steyoyoke archive, this EP is one for the books.

Coming together out of their own individual musical worlds, Rodriguez Jr. and Liset Alea met 15 years ago creating music for Laurent Garnier’s legendary imprint, F Communications. Since then, each have gone on to have blinding careers of their own, developing individual personas and sounds, becoming leaders in their fields.

A stunning partner, singer-songwriter, Liset Alea has been releasing albums since her teens. Perfectly poised for stardom since, her solo career saw her co-founding drum and bass, trip-hop band, Etro Anime in New York; co-writing and providing vocals on all songs. From here the only way was up for Alea, leaving the band to pursue her own truly solo ventures, her debut LP, No Sleep, released on EMI, was popular across multiple European territories. As an already well-seasoned artist, she later fronted the French new-wave group, Nouvelle Vague for seven years, touring the world, providing exciting and enchanting performances. With such a notable career to date that spans numerous musical styles from Drum and Bass to Downtempo New Wave, it is clear to see how Alea and Rodriguez Jr. are so perfectly matched.  
 
Known to many, as one of the best live electronic music acts the industry has to offer, Rodriguez Jr. is a multi-faceted musician as opposed to a DJ or producer. Well respected for his unique brand of melodic techno, Jr. takes his influences from genre’s far and wide feeding into his eclecticism. From classical artists such as Stockhausen to electronic groups such as Kraftwerk and LFO, his performances offer a new take on how electronic music can function in a club environment. Upon signing with Mobilee Records, Rodriguez has remained one of the imprints most treasured artists, proving time after time that live electronic music and performance, is as spell binding as any digitized track or record being spun. 

No strangers to collaboration, Jr. and Alea recently worked together on Rodriguez’s album ‘Baobab’; it was here that their creative flame was ignited. Inspired by one another’s musical tastes, the synergy between these two talents was clear from the start, making the prospect of future work together a certainty. Now picking back up on unfinished business, Jr. and Alea announce their new project RJLA, kicking things off with summer track ‘Radio’, releasing on Rodriguez’s native home, Mobilee Records.

Drawing on previous collaborations together, new and original single ‘Radio’ is a reflection of both artists musical appetites. Alongside ‘Radio’ Jr. and Alea include ‘Radian’, initially released by Rodriguez on his ‘Baobab’ album, Alea and him re-recorded the track during their cliff-top live performance for Cercle; Alea’s vocals elevating Rodriguez’s highly complex and technical melodies to new places. An extremely exciting and interesting project for Mobilee, the partnership between Rodriguez Jr. and Liset Alea presents electronic music for ears on and off the dancefloor.

Italian DJ and production duo Voon follow up a widely-supported track on Diynamic with a great new single that marks the 40th release for the connected label.

The versatility and uniqueness of this pair has led to them playing all over the world and getting support from the likes of Solomun, Rampa, and Marcus Worgull. Their sound is driven by the gravity of emotions and mixes up the smooth flow of rhythm with captivating melody.

Alex Dimou makes a welcome debut on Crosstown Rebels with What Keeps You There with two great remixes from Cevin Fisher and Avidus.

The EP begins with the enchanting nature of What Keeps You There. A prominent piano roll opens proceedings, with Vili’s moving vocals soon introduced over a chugging bassline. Cevin Fisher’s remix of the title track comes next. A more driving minimal house take on the lead record, subtle kicks converge on rustling percussion, before Vili’s emotive vocals once again form a poignantly heartfelt production. Avidus provide a dance floor-ready rework of the original, that features a mechanical sounding synth and an echoing, electric breakdown, before the EP is rounded off with Let It Be Known, a four-to-the-floor, pumping house cut made up of strong kicks and driving pads.

Alex Dimou is a producer, DJ and remixer whose career has seen him perform all around the global circuit. As a remixer, he has collaborated with the likes of Maya Jane Coles and M.A.N.D.Y, whilst his own releases have found a home on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax as well as renowned Berlin imprint Get Physical Music. Legendary American producer Cevin Fisher has been releasing standout records since 1995, achieving five entries in the UK singles chart between 1998 and 2001. German duo Avidus are regulars on Crosstown Rebels, and continue to run their own imprint Empore Music, which was launched in 2015.
