After In Theory...'s hiatus and fizzling-out in the late June of 2011, former members RJ Morgan, Marshall Seely, understudy bassist Brandon Vick, and vocalist Ethan Erickson got together in late Februrary of 2012 to create a new band with a different goal in mind than before: to have fun playing music, as opposed to trying to gain fame. Originally, the band was called Maria Goes to Jordan; the name came from a spur-of-the-moment conversation between Ethan and his co-worker Maria, who was, coincidentally, from the Middle-Eastern state of Jordan. The name was later changed to Where I Left Off because the band felt it was more appropriate for the group.
