Cheese & Cheese - Chocolate (Chook Remix) [ABORIGINAL]

An artist with a growing and storied history with Particles, Li-Polymer returns with the twin-track "Magnolia". Remixes come from Australian and Brazilian talents.

Opening his Particles account with a remix of Matt Rowan in late 2014 and another for Lateral Cut Groove in early 2015, several original tracks featured on the seasonal Particles compilation series in 2015 and 2016 before "Crystal Serenity" saw the Portuguese artist release his debut solo EP in May 2017. A four-year hiatus followed before the Organic House gem that was "Jacaranda" hit the shelves in February 2021 with remixes from Hot TuneiK and LADS & Traumhouse. Now blossoming with "Magnolia", the title track is a glorious melange of reverberated and delayed percussive beats while a heavy beat anchors the mesmerising melodies that swirl across the sonic landscape. Over the 10-minute piece, textured pads and twinkling keys glisten and ambient effects provide a garden-like atmosphere as synthesised birds twitter on the breeze and off-beat chords provide subtle dancefloor character. Characterised by powerful rhythmic foundation, a strong bass groove keeps "Microclima" in check as rich aural textures and atmospheric effects continue the sonic narrative of the EP. Waxing and waning gently throughout, Li-Polymer's skill is to create a sonic odyssey full of Organic House magic.

A veteran of myriad production credits across a plethora of blue-chip imprints, GMJ's relationship with Proton continues to grow. A former regular on Particles, "Edge of Remembrance" and "Forgotten Wisdom" lit up the label in 2014 before 2016's "Intimation" and 2018's "Open Doors" continued a sparkling portfolio, the latter in collaboration with Tripswitch. Remixes of Kastis Torrau & Donatello, Oliver Lieb and James Monro have also followed as GMJ returns with a trademark remix of "Microclima". Taking the rhythmic cadence of the original and adding a delicious hi-hat swing, silky synths and smooth bass groove entwine effortlessly as elements from "Microclima" are fused with glorious new production material. Blossoming at the breakdown in emotive fashion, chords and synth phrasing are used to maximum effect before the deft new bassline creates a head-shaking second half.

From the Santa Catarina island in Florianópolis, Edu Schwartz is a relative newcomer to the underground dance fraternity. With a residency at the renowned Warung Beach Club already under his belt and the formation of his Words Not Enough imprint alongside friend, Awka, the Brazilian has also featured on the likes of The Purr, Circle of Life and Desert Hut. Edu Schwartz now makes his Particles debut with an innovative approach that creates a new melodic phrasing from the Brazilian's production prowess. A dynamic bassline progression adds an emotive touch as counterpoint melodies and soaring strings add a dash of class at the breakdown, while organic synth plucks and pulsating waves of sound extend into the third movement with ease.

A pair of original tracks plus remixes from GMJ and Edu Schwarz find Li-Polymer revelling in his "Micorclima".

Sound Avenue opens the fall season with a new single from label boss Madloch and frequent studio partner Subnode. Having been paired since the summer of 2018, the creative synergy between Madloch and Subnode has continued to grow. The Belgian duo have released eight originals and a remix since beginning their collaborative partnership. Their borderless approach to production has found the duo in the creative space between house and techno, oftentimes with a glacial, dubbed-out quality that appeases the underground's most discerning tastemakers. Now following their ‘A Short Moment’ single to commemorate Another Life Music’s 100th release, Madloch and Subnode return to their comfortable home of Sound Avenue with ‘Utopia’, alongside remixes from Hernan Cattaneo & Soundexile and Microlot. 

Getting underway with the original mix, Madloch and Subnode combine their extensive forces for a cosmic slice of progressive house. From its full, wavy groove comes driving percussion, liquid-like rhythms and hazy harmonics. Evolving with power and class, placid atmospheres and looping vocals provide a colourful backdrop for a landscape of striking electronics. A majestic break sits at the heart of the journey, concise and expertly crafted, it’s gentle effervescent glow builds, as an icy drawl marries evolving percussive arrangements for a commanding drop and thrilling finale.

The first interpretation of ‘Utopia’ is provided by Hernan Cattaneo & Soundexile who make their label debut. With a partnership that now spans well over a decade, the Argentinean trio sit firmly amongst progressive music’s elite guard. Hernan Cattaneo needs little introduction and has become known to electronic music lovers simply as El Maestro. He is one of the world’s most beloved DJs and his Sudbeat label is widely regarded as one of the best in its field. Soundexile are a Buenos Aires based production duo who have been crafting unique and inspiring electronic music since 2006. The pair are also accomplished DJs, having shared the booth with Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, James Zabiela, Dave Seaman and Henry Saiz. Now partnering up with Hernan once again, the trio make their Sound Avenue debut and provide a stunning take on ‘Utopia’. Electrically charged with thumping kicks and a tighter take on the groove, it’s energetic prowess beams brightly. Binding rhythmic flow with dynamic tones and sweeping effects makes for a sleek yet commanding first act. Colourful overlays heighten the senses as pixie-like melodies fade in and out of coherence leading into the break. Grandiose and soothing in equal measure, tasteful modulation highlights the centrepiece, elevating mood before getting washed away as the groove rolls forward towards a stirring final movement.


The release concludes with Microlot making his label debut and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Utopia’. 
Hailing from Australia, Luke Warren aka Mircolot crafts thoughtful music for deep souls and dreamers. Evocative textures, organic grooves and a heavy dub influence are just some of the traits that are synonymous with the Sydney resident. His highly stylized sound has found favour with the underground’s premiere tastemakers and led to releases via Seven Villas and Seppuku Records. Now adding Sound Avenue to his resume, Microlot debuts on the Belgian imprint with a late night take on ‘Utopia’. Organic beats and dusty percussion serve to anchor the journey, as reprocessed vocals and meandering atmospheres unite across a colourful soundscape.

Since partnering up with label boss Madloch in 2018 the majority of Subnode's productions have come courtesy of Sound Avenue or it's affiliates Crossfade Sounds and 3rd Avenue; while his own Caapi Records imprint has served as a landing spot for the finest in electronica and experimental sounds. Most recently, Subnode once again paired with Madloch on Sound Avenue, where the duo released the well received 'Utopia' alongside remixes from Hernan Cattaneo & Soundexile and Microlot. Eight years after working together for the first time on Paul's Adapt album for the song 'In The Dark', Paul Hazendonk and Alice Rose have reconnected for a fresh collaboration and the result is nothing short of spectacular! 

We proudly present to you: 'Just Breathe'. A synth driven bombastic piece of melodic forward thinking house music.. or is it techno? It defies genre borders, that's for sure! Alice's dreamy lyrics and outstanding vocal performance take the song to the next level without a doubt.

Next to the original version an instrumental version is also included, as is a beatless version which is eerily haunting in all its stripped down beauty. 'Just Breathe' is one of those song that's unique in its own way, not following trends and aiming to be a timeless piece of art. Speaking of which; the artwork image is created by the amazing Benson Koo.

The latest release on Madloch's 3rd Avenue imprint finds the label showcasing the 11th edition of their popular 'Three Of A Kind' series. These VA EP releases feature three producers who contribute two originals, with the end result being a unique amalgamation of sound, something which has now become synonymous with the Sound Avenue affiliate. Invited to showcase their talents for the eleventh edition are artists from Argentina, South Korea & Greece respectively.

The release opens with Gaspar Aguilera & Manu Pavez. Two young upcoming producers with a lot of more releases in the pipeline on our labels. Manu made his debut a weeks ago on Sound Avenue's "Correlation Vol.5" LP. Downpour is also no stranger with releases before on our "We Are The Future" compilation. Chris Doppler is making his label debut with two nice deep originals.
