In 2018, Chlär officially entered the techno scene by releasing his first EP on Bipolar Disorder Rec at the age of 20. His first involvement in the world of electronic music consisted of organizing illegal rave parties in his home country; Switzerland.

Having played in several major club capitals in Europe, he has caught the attention of more and more people by providing ‘’skillful and outstanding" performances. Producer and craftsman of sound, Chlär shines through his unconventional approach to techno. With the use of scientific and meticulous methods, he continues to fine tune the progress of his search for increasingly organic, pounding grooves and soundscapes to create simple and subtle elements that embody effective, energetic and highly infectious pieces of music. 

Now at ease with the production of many genres : from straight forward techno, nostalgic trancy sounds, electro-break-your-neck beats, to old-school stomping grooves, Chlär successfully demonstrated his skills by releasing a wide range of ‘’futuristic bangers’’.

He is also a former mastering engineer and co-runs Bipolar Disorder Rec. with friend and artistic collaborator, The Chronics. Chlär is sharpening his musical senses and abilities on many sides of the industry, by being an artist and engineer but also working in A&R and Event Management.

Samantha Togni, an internationally-renowned DJ, producer and promoter. Not only has she played headline sets in super-clubs from Tokyo to America, Togni has also built a really strong reputation with her productions in the Electronic Music scene. Her tracks and work quickly racked up support from Adidas Originals, which playlisted the song in its stores, as well as press outlets including Mixmag, DJ Mag, Resident Advisor, Dazed Korea, The 405, Red Bull and Wonderland, who described Togni as "the DJ to watch". Togni is the founder of Boudica, a collective aiming to give visibility to women and non-binary artists. Boudica is a party series, a conference, a radio show, a podcast and a soon-tobe vinyl label. Boudica is one of London’s most exciting upcoming movement in the scene. Togni is also a resident DJ of of Gegen, a Berlin-based club collective renowned for fusing club culture, performance art and techno which caught the attention of Trax Mag and Mixmag. Togni has performed in super-clubs like O2 Brixton Academy, Globe Theatre LA, Ministry Of Sound, Electric Brixton, Goa (Rome), Sala Cool (Madrid), Milk Club(Turin), Loftus Hall (Berlin), Lanificio 159 (Rome), Club Haus (Milan), Aistope Lounge (Tokyo) and many more. Alongside Boudica and Inferno, Samantha is also a monthly resident at EGG London. She has invested her energy and focus in the studio for the last year with analogue and digital releases on Pls.UK and RAW lined up.

En nuestra siguiente edición invitamos a Gene de La O.

Gene De La O es una DJ de San José, Costa Rica cuya propuesta navega entre las ramas del house y el techno con influencias del sonido electrónico de los 90s y 2000s. Como mujer queer, entiende la música electrónica como una forma de expresión de identidad, y visualiza la cultura de club como un espacio de encuentro: un lugar donde habitar el cuerpo libremente y conectar con otrxs desde la música.

A través de su carrera ha compartido escenario con Jennifer Cardini, Stefan Goldmann, 131bpm, Cleric, entre otros. Su propuesta ha sonado en los principales clubes de San José como Antik, Mambo y Fauna, y ha participado en eventos como Crave, TMPL, GAG y Spunk!

Les compartimos esta pequeña reflexión de Gene De La O sobre este mix: 

Este mix contiene varias de mis más recurrentes piezas en los últimos meses. La construcción de este set me permitió adentrarme en el house music desde los sentidos de mis productorxs favoritxs, y terminé muy conmovida. Que alegría poder compartir la música, que buen ride saberla capaz de transformarnos. El house es de por sí disidente. Representa en su más básico valor a grupos subalternos que hace no muchas décadas, se dedicaron a bailar hasta el amanecer a escondidas de la estructura que castigaba su existencia. Una oportunidad para recordar lo revolucionario de nuestro oficio, y asumirlo como tal: Detenernos a disfrutar la música en comunidad es una clara forma de resistencia.

- ¿Qué te motivó a ser Dj?

Ser parte del dancefloor me llevó a ser dj. Cuando comencé a escuchar house y techno en eventos o en clubes sentía mucha emoción bailando, reía, lloraba, sacaba mucho de mí. Con el tiempo me surgió el deseo de compartir música como lo hacían los djs que me inspiraban y lo convertí en una meta que finalmente materialicé. Me hice dj con el fin de poder compartir la música que me apasiona con gente que quiera escucharla, y conectar por medio de ella.

- ¿Qué consejo le darías a alguien que está empezando a ser Dj?

Que confíe en su proceso, en la música y en sí mismx. Comprender que las cosas no pasan de un día para otro, y que su carácter como artista se va a construir a través de la constancia y la disciplina, nada bueno sale de apurarse.

- ¿Cuál crees que es uno de los principales retos en la escena Techno en CR?

Vivir en la actualidad es sentir la presión de tener que ser exitosx rápidamente, estar constantemente expuestxs a las redes sociales y por ende a compararse con otrxs. Para mí, el verdadero desafío está en comprender su propia esencia artística y crecer desde ahí. Hay que estar dispuestxs a encontrarse con unx mismx.

For our 10th episode, we invited Lino L'amour. Lino L'Amour is DJ Ritalino's alter ego for techno and house. They are based in Leipzig and belong to the Escape Kollektiv, and are residents at MAW Magdeburg.
In this mix, they play a selection of their favourite techno tracks. Expect often psy-influenced sounds, but never vocal trash or edits.
