In recent times, it appears that the internet has fueled greater division, leading to increased polarization. This trend has pushed individuals toward virtue signaling, often expressing selective outrage. What is selective outrage? Selective outrage is the tendency of individuals or groups expressing outrage or moral indignation selectively based on personal biases. People may choose to speak out against certain offenses while ignoring or downplaying others that may be equally or even more significant. Selective outrage can manifest in social issues and personal relationships with someone condemning a person for a particular action while excusing similar behavior from a friend. One could argue that selective outrage undermines the credibility of moral or ethical judgments, suggesting that the outrage is motivated more by self-interest and tribalism rather than genuine concern for justice or morality.

Xiorro's latest release, "Selective Outrage," sets the storm of airwaves for Whirlwind Trax’s 2024 release calendar. A release containing 2 tracks that could seamlessly slide into a set to twirl up a dance floor. The titled track, "Selective Outrage," kicks off the release with an explosive blend of drums, thunderous 808 bass, and soul-stirring vocals. Xiorro masterfully crafts an atmosphere of intrigue and intensity, inviting listeners to delve into the complexities of modern society's selective moral compass.

Following suit, "Keep That Same Energy" keeps the momentum soaring with its relentless bass lines and infectious drive. As the rhythm propels forward with its hypnotic lead, underlaying vocals and unwavering energy, "Keep That Same Energy" remains unapologetically consistent with its attitude charging towards the hypocrisy occurring in the world today.

Meanwhile, Adrestia's contribution, "Noches de Palladium," pays homage to the legendary Mambo era club, Palladium Ballroom, that set New York ablaze from the late 40s up until its closure in 1966. The track is a mesmerizing fusion of past and present, embodying the spirit of those unforgettable nights with a contemporary twist that keeps you moving.

The artwork accompanying this release is an explosion of Latino-inspired visuals, adorned with a tropical color palette that mimics the vibrant hues of the dance floor. sonic enlightenment in a virtual dimension—but ALKHEMY, made up of Co-founders Xiorro and Adrestia and Producer Buzzi, is no stranger to the digital presence. While showcasing hard, experimental techno through their label and mix series Whirlwind Trax, the collective lives by an inclusive ethos. Their diverse artist selections and thoughtful conversations in media outlets carry the activist roots of techno forward…in a time where it is needed more than ever. 

As an homage to one of the most beloved raves in New York, 4 Years of The Black Hole: Interdimensional Troopers not only features heavyweights who played the event in the past, but also artists who have collaborated on the Whirlwind mix series and those who share a linked sonic vision. 

Known for being a catalyst for New York introductions, in-person or virtually, ALKHEMY continues this practice, featuring some new faces to the Brooklyn scene as well. The VA brings fresh, bold sounds to New York and America with artist origins spanning across the US, Europe, and South America.
