Jake Davis & The Whiskey Stones is a New Hampshire based bluegrass/string band.  We formed in late 2012 after years of playing with one another in various other projects.  The band was formed on a foggy mountain top  when we all took a solemn vow to never play Wagon Wheel.  Not even under pain of death, or worse.  Unless, of course, we're busking; we will sell out for two dollars in a banjo case.  We acknowledge that O.C.M.S. is a great album.

We are sometimes lumped into the mildly pejorative category of 'Newgrass'.  That might not be far from The Truth.  Even if it is, we're not too stressed about it.  We emulate everything from the 50's style of Flatt and Scruggs to the early Motown recordings, in addition to the contemporary pathfinders of the genre like The Devil Makes Three, Michael Daves and others.

Jake is responsible for almost all of our original material.  We sing about being sad or bad, but we usually make it kinda fun.
