PikaPika

A while back, a friend challenged me to write a song in anything other than the basic 4/4, and because I love odd time signatures, I had to take him up on it.

This was my first time writing in a time signature like this, but Im really proud of how it turned out!

My first foray into chiptune music. I made it a while back but I wasn't super into it, but recently I got back into it, mixed it differently, and made the drums sound more... chiptune-ish... I guess? Thing is, I found a chiptune sample packs and I liked it, so I injected it in this track.

I really like how it turned out now!

Multi

One of my biggest projects to date, hence the title. 

This whole track was made with a bunch of different sounds from a whole bunch of different SNES soundfonts, and I never really messed with that many samples all at once. Pretty much every instrument is a mixture of 2 or 3 (or more) different sounds from different soundfonts, so it was a pain to mix, but I really like how it turned out! It also has one of my favorite main melodies I've written so... yeah!

Monument

A short little loop that I made a while back, but I never really knew if it was really truly finished, as I didn't know what else to do with it, so I just kept it as it was! 

I find it really fun honestly.

Freak

Another little chiptune track made with some kind of duel in mind, I think I initially made it when we were conceptualizing a game for a class in my university though... 

Whatever the case, I really like the groove!

Duel

Another track made with a bunch of SNES soundfonts, inspired by the crystal cave levels in Donkey Kong Country.

Crystal

I had this song halfway done for the longest time, and it wasn't until we had to make a game for a class that I didn't sit down and finally finished.

I'm not quite sure what my original idea was, but I really like how it evolved!

Control

A track made almost entirely with sounds from the Chrono Trigger soundfont! It's my favorite game of all time and it has one of my favorite soundtracks of all time, so I had to make a track inspired by it.

I kind of imagine it playing in some kind of temple for an ancient god...

Chrono

A short little track intended to be used within the menus of a video game.

Calm

I made this track a while back, and then never touched it again pretty much. I like how it turned out, it feels like a boss fight theme or some kind of chase sequence to me.

Amphibian

A track that was born from a simple pattern with magical8bitplug-in's noise sound.

I've been really into producing 8-bit music lately!

Noise

I was listening to Pictionary's OST for the NES, composed by Chiptune legend Tim Follin and was immediately inspired to write something in his kind of style. 

I highly doubt I nailed it, but what came out is really cool and I'm really proud of it!

A chiptune track inspired by Boomer Kuwanger's theme from Megaman X!

Kuwanger

One of my favorite videogame soundtracks of all time is Undertale's soundtrack, and a big reason why is Toby Fox's extensive and clever use of musical motifs. I'd love to recreate that feeling, and so I made this short track as a kind of "main theme", with a melody that could be repurposed in another context. 

I have a "final battle" idea in my head with this motif, but I've yet to do anything with it, and I'd love to explore the concept much more!

Motif

So I made this while toying around with Sforzando and a bunch of .sfz files I had lying around, and I don't know how I've never used them before, they sound really good!

This song particularly feels like a main theme for a game!

Sforzo

A small piano ballad that I composed on request. It took me out of my comfort zone since I don't really play piano, and it was my very first time trying out this kind of thing.

Despite all that, I'm happy with how it turned out!

So the story for this track is that it was supposed to be used for that card game we did for an elective course at uni, but it didn't end up being used because it didn't fit with the tone we were going for.

However, I really liked the main guitar riff and kept working on it, shelved it for a while, and a while ago I came back to it to do some finishing touches. 

Now I'm actually happy with how it sounds, since this is the first time I try to do a track with a heavy rock influence!

Aggro

I've been getting a whole lot more into chiptune recently, and this is another go at that, but without limiting myself a whole lot, since I wasn't really trying to emulate the sound of the NES or something like that!

Ozone

This is the "final boss" theme that I've been wanting to compose a while back, and it uses a motif that I created for a previous track I made!

Final

I initially started this track because I was listening to Bjork's State of Emergency and I thought that playing around with a 5/4 time signature could be cool, and I ended up really getting into it!
