"Three years ago, Harley & myself met in his bed room studio for the very first time. This track was actually an idea from that very session.

Today we find ourselves back at home, together, after many months on the road from our various projects. 
Our core focus to finalise our forthcoming Singles, it feels symbolic that three years on we find ourselves coming full circle to finish this same song we started that very first day.

We reflect on how much has changed & how much is still the same. From my 9-5 desk job to now writing music & DJing around the globe. From his bed room ambitions to being the forefront of dance music subculture. We're still two young dudes, that love the ocean, hanging with our friends in the city we've grown up in & hunting for things that inspire us.

This song is for all you lovely people that have made our dream a reality.

For those who were asking what the mysterious mix that was put on after the DJs stopped playing outside at the Life and Death party in Art Basel, here it is. A mellow trip prepared by Greg from Thugfucker and presented here as a little thank you from all of us at Life and Death. 

It's been an amazing year and we're so very appreciative of all the support we've gotten as we've adventured forwards on this incredible musical trip together. Fever Ray has today confirmed what many suspected after a shocking, mildly terrifying (and anonymous) image appeared last week with the words 'Mercy Street' upon it. Having performed spellbinding live covers of well-loved tracks by artists as varied as Nick Cave, Vashti Bunyanand Peter Gabriel, her cover of the latter's 'Mercy Street' is set for release later this year on limited 7" and download through Rabid Records.

The conceptual experience from Damian Lazarus and his team of dedicated and visionary musicians and artists lies just three short days away. In speaking to Defected recently about what fans can expect, Damian says: “Partying has actually become quite safe; you buy your ticket to an event and can pretty much imagine exactly how it will pan out before you walk through the door. I love the idea of creating something where there is an uncertainty; where there is room for the element of surprise... some kind of danger and mystery. I think Day Zero offers these exciting qualities.” The genesis of this was a spiritual experience that followed a conversation with a Shaman on the beach in Tulum where Lazarus raised his hands to the moon and felt the presence of an “electric force field.”

Considering this, it’s hard not to feel the hairs on the back of your neck start to tingle as you imagine what is to come. The feeling that accompanies dancing with your favorite friends and strangers to the underground’s best artists amongst ancient pyramids constructed by a race of people who felt their calendar didn’t need the ability to forecast past the day in which the event will take place surely won’t be something we’ll ever forget.

In advance of this fantastic, magical adventure, which at one point felt too far in the future to feel real, Thugfucker and Shaun Reeves have graciously teamed up to put together their Timewave(day)zero podcast which seems an appropriately deep and introspective aural journey of introspective reflection.
