Magnofon is British based producer Harry Towell, who records Deep House music, as well as operating within the Ambient music scene with his Whitelabrecs label.

Harry’s background in House music came from his DJing days in the early 2000s and ever since, he’s been experimenting with electronic music production. Primarily, he sees himself as a music lover and record fanatic, searching the depths of underground music scenes. He recently launched the Wallofhouse blog which curates a collection of the latest House records into a visual ‘wall’ of recommendations.

“I hope you enjoy this mix, which I aimed to keep deep and chilled throughout, hopefully with plenty of variation with dub, tech house, lo-fi and jazzy influences mixing with the tracks from my forthcoming ‘Flights’ EP.”

Paper Relics are a UK based duo active since 2010, consisting of Whitelabrecs label owner Harry Towell and his brother Stuart, a musician. They have released music on Time Released Sound, Audio Gourmet and Whitelabrecs.

About Tha Noota:

A dj from Poland, who started her dj path during pandemic in 2020. Her purpose was just to listen to her favourite music on a higher level and to be able to create her own mixes. After 2 months of learning she got a chance to play in a local electronic music club in Olsztyn, where she is based. Since then she plays regularly in her hometown as well as in other polish cities, practicing her skills and widening selection. She's especially bonded with dub techno genre but she also explores deep/hypnotic techno, ambient and house music. Her mix for Deep Electronics contains a piece of her favourite track of all times, which is Element Two by Variant."

Welcome! Here is the 354th chapter of the Deep Electronics serie. Released every two weeks the serie brings you a diversity into the abyss of deep electronic music. This week Harry Towell aka Magnofon presents his mix  to celebrate is latest release that will be released soon. The link is in the description.

Bio:
Magnofon is a side-project for artist and composer Harry Towell, who is better known in the Ambient scene as Spheruleus, or for running the Whitelabrecs label. Harry’s background in electronic music began as a DJ some 20 years ago, and he played Deep House, Dub and Techno styles across the midlands in the UK. He has been active as Magnofon since 2013 with releases on labels such as Canopy Sounds, Art Nouveau Records and his own now-defunct label Warehouse Decay.

Harry’s latest album as Magnofon is called Terrarium, out now on Whitelabrecs under the label’s eRecords series. The album is a mixture of Dub Techno, Deep House, Ambient and Micro House and a concept inspired by the natural world and all things botanical. To promote the mix, Harry has created this mix for Deep Electronics, exploring deep dubbed out rhythms, obscure textures and ambient tones. The hour-long session includes a track from the Terrarium album, alongside the likes of Rod Modell, Sven Weisemann, Fluxion and Soela.

Glåsbird is an anonymous composer whose albums are the score to imaginary films.
The artist is building a series of works about various geographical locations as well as providing music for film, sound design and remixes.
Their sound contains evident influences from modern classical and ambient music genres and this mix for Deep Breakfast is an epic two hour journey through modern classical composition.

The undulating landscape in the image is one of clear beauty and depicts the traditional instruments used throughout this mix. Whereas the electricity pylons that run through the valley represents the subtle electronic techniques used in many of the selections.

Toàn - Volta No Vento (album preview)

2020 plays out to the sound of ‘Ghost Sounds’ by Polaroid Notes, who returns to Whitelabrecs following 2017’s ‘Unsung Memories’. The artist, based in the countryside that lies between Munich and the Alps, has released with us on sister labels Tessellate Recordings and Audio Gourmet, as well as Weber & Alcantu, Büro für Erdrotation and his own label Drone Works International. Some may also recall the Rhodes-led ambience of the ‘Moonlight Sessions’, the fourteenth edition of our Home Diaries series.

‘Ghost Sounds’ treads the cinematic lines of atmospheric piano and electronic ambient music, with unsettling undercurrents which occasionally creep into view. It has been in production since November 2019 as the sound of Polaroid Notes was pushed to develop a wider variety. The recording methods, effects and techniques were painstakingly adapted through experimentation and some truly spooky moments were captured. From here, Ghost Sounds became an obvious working title for the album.

The basic approach behind this album is an attempt to deal with our weird and uncertain times in politics, health, social separation, isolation and cocooning. Ghost Sounds tries to capture this strange atmosphere - somewhere between deep despair, silent hope and the wish to wake up from restless and unfullfillable dreams. The album artwork features photography by the artist during the first few winter days of 2020, captured in the Black Forest, which is close to the artist’s working residence during the week.

Whitelabrecs was set up by Harry Towell in late 2015 as another outlet to put out experimental electronic/acoustic music. It followed Harry’s previous labels Audio Gourmet, Tessellate and Warehouse Decay and focuses on a collectable series of highly limited edition vinyl-effect CDr packaging, with the first 50 releases influenced by white label vinyl records. The label also runs a digital only series called eRecords, with each of these releases including a special PDF booklet.
