It is often said that the inventor of the deep house is Larry Heard with his song Can You Feel It released on Jack Trax in 1988. This qualifier deep ("deep" in French) refers to the more introspective dimension of this style close to jazz and Soul, while classical music House is directly related to the disco and funk roots. With a groove pattern, the bass are often punctuated by the percussion of syncopated way.
For several years, particularly in Western Europe, by its character and fairly moderate tempo (around 126 bpm), deep house is sometimes associated and confused with background music kind of lounge or easy listening, intended to constitute background music and more or less sophisticated dance of worldly or more underground parties.
As is the case with most other styles of electronic dance music, deep house disks are primarily intended to be mixed, hence the publication preferred vinyl rather than CD.
