Under Your Skin

I really liked the idea of being "made of time" for someone. At the end of the day, time is all relative, and if you spend time with the one you love, it can seem like there's no such thing as time. The song is really about that - being willing to spend as much time waiting to be with the one who makes you feel like time doesn't exist. The lyrics are a bit of a call back and connect to my song 'where r u' which is all about waiting on 'the one.'

Made of Time (feat. Trove & Emily Vaughn)

sad alex came to record in my apartment and immediately had a chord progression in her head that ended up becoming the foundation for the song. We both sat and talked to learn about each other and found out we had many shared experiences in life - one being worried about someone you can't care for any longer.

As she wrote on the feeling and I kept producing and after recording the session was over. We both wanted to make something extremely close to home while also having enough energy to cry and dance at the same time. I tried a few separate ideas and eventually felt lost in the production because the right idea hadn't come within the first, second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth try. Over a month after recording, the final sound came through and completed the song.

This song is very personal to both of us because even though it speaks volume in production, the lyrics are real emotions we've both experienced in different capacities. sad alex is also one of the most talented musicians I've had the pleasure to work with and made me step up a lot of the time to try and keep up with how well she works. Her writing is impeccable and her ear is unmatched.

Thank you for working on this song together - as I'm listening again I'm brought back to the session and even the moments and emotion in my life that the song is written about.
