THE HAUNTED KINGDOM is a roleswap AU centered around a kingdom of monsters trapped underneath a veil of darkness. Hearing legends of this haunted world, a brave human falls down into the kingdom and must brave the challenges ahead of them.

The dialogue mentions a “veil of darkness” that the monsters were trapped under. What’s that, you may ask? Well, remember the space background that appears when the player chooses to lay down in Napstablook’s house for a while? A similar idea exists for the barrier replacement, but here it’s an endless void of shadows and darkness. Just imagining it gives you the chills, doesn’t it?

- I could see the cloth shaking, hear the mask trembling.
- Sort of reminded me of Kartofell...
- So I opened my mouth to speak, but they'd already began to utter and stutter once more.
JY: Oh, where are my manners, I-I'm Jay…
- The bird extended out a hand and I took it. I had little else to lose.
- It was feathery... And moist.
- Can birds sweat? I never checked... And still pray that they can.
JY: Y-you don't really need to introduce yourself I already know alot about you and…
JY: Wait that sounded…I'm sorry, I'm no good at this…
- I felt somewhat bad for them. They were clearly struggling and I was no help.
- My unique brand of semi-silent stoicness was not what they needed right now.
- So I spoke, with a soft smile naturally forming alongside it.
- "It's alright... You're doing fine."
- A silence followed this, but I feel he appreciated it.
JY: So, your trying to help the people here correct? 
JY: B-by dancing? 
JY: That's certainly unconventional.
JY: Well I wanna help! I know you have no reason to trust me, a-and I'm certainly no hero, but I wanna help the people here too…E-even if I'm useless.
- I just shrugged.
- "Why not."
- I already had a scarecrow and a weird gremlin creature on my side, alongside a man who was rather normal by these standards... So why not a bird too?
