Solid Steel in association with Serato (19th February) Our guests in Hour 2 are Krankbrother, who are brothers, DJ's, producers and run a label and monthly London party, which alongside Phonica Records is happening this weekend on 20th Feb at Fire, with our guest in Hour 1 Prins Thomas and previous guest Axel Boman. They had this to say about their mix;
"After both spending ages going through our record collections, we settled in for a listening session in our office behind our bar in East London. After playing each other a load of records and drinking a load of whiskey we realised two things. Firstly, that we had way too much music to fit on a mix, and secondly there was a lot of variety in what we’d chosen. A selector's curse made even worse by the fact there are two of us. So from there we tried to piece together as many of these records as we could whilst still allowing the mix to develop in a smooth organic way. We didn’t want the mix to jump around too erratically so we made a lot of edits to help it flow. The records we ended up choosing are a little bit of what we play and love from the last 40 years spanning acid, disco, new wave, afro beat, indie and techno. Despite the mix being quite retrospective, on a more personal level, the mix will always mark a very special moment in time for us. Shortly after we made our way to our homes from that very listening session, Kieran’s wife went into labour.  Off they went off to the hospital, Kieran on two hours sleep and a whiskey head and shortly after we welcomed yet another Clancy boy into the family.”

For clarification purposes:-
Not a single track on my Soundcloud page has been ‘stolen’ by me from any Facebook page. Everything has either been in my possession on various hard-drives for years, or has been found elsewhere on that there Internet thing we all love.
Most of the soundboard live gigs originated from a close personal family member about 15 years ago, and you don’t see me bleating about THEFT THEFT THEFT!!
Furthermore, I’ve recently uploaded some newly extracted unreleased and unheard Orb stuff, that I am more than happy for anyone, absolutely anyone to rip, steal or borrow.

WHY SHEEP?
Okay, fine, but what's with the white fluffy animals on the cover?

"The sleeve is a very very English thing. The Pink Floyd album ATOM HEART MOTHER, do you know that album? The sleeve with the cow's head on it? That's a very English thing and it has the vibe of the rave scene over here. When we're having the big Orbital raves out in the country, and you're dancing all night and then the sun would come up in the morning, and then you'd be surrounded by this English rural countryside ... so we wanted something that kind of reflected that, that feeling the day after the rave, that's what we wanted the music for.

"So when we went to the photo-library, we had a copy of ATOM HEART MOTHER under our arms, and we went in: 'Okay, we want a picture of sheep, like this.' They didn't have any pictures of sheep that were like the cover of ATOM HEART MOTHER, but they had these other pictures of sheep ... hundreds, thousands of pictures of sheep, and we picked the ones we used because it had that same sort of feeling."
