Spanish duo SOSANDLOW brings worldly influences to their new single on Sinchi with remixes from Andy Bros and Machinegewehr bolstering a strong EP. Artwork comes from Aboriginal artist Wayne Quilliam and all sales from this EP will be donated to the Sinchi Foundation to support indigenous peoples.
SOSANDLOW aka Alex Sosa and D Low take inspiration from all over the musical universe and sounds as diverse as Euro-synth pop and African rhythms. Their Musica Cavernicola label has been on a permanent upward trajectory since its inception in 2017 and they hold down a celebrated residency at Tortilla Club in Madrid. They now impress on Sinchi after fine outings on the likes of Sincopat and
Connected.
The sparkling 'Happy Ending' is a big disco cut with sci-fi arps and glistening synth lines. The chunky drums come with funk and swing and the chord progressions take you ever higher. It is a rich slice of
brilliantly retro-future dance music.
DJ, sound engineer and producer Andy Bros has a widescreen sound that has taken him to Diynamic Music, Buttress Records and Exit Strategy. He recently toured the US and played at Art Basel in Miami
and shows off his melodic side here. His leggy and serene remix is filled with retro chord vamps that will get hands in the air as the astral synth lines and upbeat drums keep the positive vibes alive.
Rotterdam's Machinegewehr is a master of dark electronic sound and mixes up electro, Italo, techno and disco on labels like Correspondant, AEON and Bordello A Parigi. Here he remixes with an air of mystery
and intrigue. The spacious cosmic grooves draw you in as wispy melodies fly by and crisp hits keep things motoring onwards.

The still young but already respected French label Critical Monday is back for the Chapter 12 of its beautiful story. The Bonnie Spacey’s imprint’s first EP of the year features hot Austrian producer Yöurr, who made his debut on Critical last December on its “Various Artists #2” compilation and has amassed a solid string of originals and collaborations released on vital labels such as Secret Fusion, Voltaire Music, Earthly Delights, and WAYU, just to name a few. The Chapter 12 brings also a seminal remix signed by none other than the unstoppable Greco-German couple Vamparela and Brax Moody aka Local Suicide.

Premiered here, the remix brought the minimalistic and retro-futuristic aura of “Double Grab” to a fidgetier and more frolic realm. The first thing Vamp & Max must have thought when started working on the track was “we need more cowbell!”, and from there, the sky was the limit. The fatter and funkier bassline plus the extra dose of synth leads and percussive elements resulted in another proper Indie Dance cut by the beloved by all duo.

Manuel Castaneda a.k.a. Rigopolar is now based in Miami. He mixes up Italo, disco, techno and wave music on labels like Duro, Aeon, Nazca and Tom Tom Disco. He is a mainstay of the dark disco scene and always takes dance floors on a trip through space and time with his rough-edged but majestically melodic sounds. His new label will be a place for his most comprehensive musical statements yet, and the first offering is an instant classic of the genre.

Opener 'Purple Drive' is an expansive astral disco cut with sweeping guitar riffs and dazzling disco-fried synth work. It's chuggy and packed with stylish reverb and a well-treated vocal. Next is the twinkling 'Inversus Totalis,' which melts swaggering and dubbed out drums with twitchy synths into a sleek and far-sighted dance floor destroyer in the mold of ALFOS. The brilliant 'Melting Moon' is another dark disco gem that is quick to lock you in with its tinny percussion and rugged arps. They're backed with coarse hits and a pulsing bassline that forever forges forwards through the stars. 'Saturnia' closes down with mind-melting synth loops and prickly hits. The drums are firmly rooted, while splashy cymbals and vocoder vocals add that deep space feel.
A second EP is already in the works for later in the year and is sure to confirm this is an essential new label for dark disco heads.

Label boss Jason Peters is back with a new single for his Roam Recordings imprint. Lost in Space features Jason’s vocals driving an early house meets italo feel with a splash of dub. The EP is backed by two top remixes from Prins Thomas and The Juan MacLean. Prince Thomas takes the vibe of the original into an epic Diskomiks with live guitars, strings, and tribal drums over a masterful arrangement. The Juan MacLean takes the mood in the opposite direction delivering a dark, stripped down, hypnotic banger.

Fists clenched, brow furrowed, he bit his bottom lip to stop him shouting the myriad of profanities the swirled around his head. Everyone that knew him well would describe him as having a calm temperament; a level-headed individual who approached situations with composure and coolness, but this time his patience was tested like never before. He felt as if his head were about to explode; if he were in a cartoon smoke would be firing out of his ears and the shrill whistle of a kettle boiling would resound around the place. Steadying his breath he brought himself back down to solid ground, he hoped that would be the first and the last time his calm exterior would be shattered.

In the world of psychedelic, punk-tinged electronic music, Duro Records boss Theus Mago and Ombra International founder Curses are prolific producers in their own right, so when the pair come together you know that sparks are guaranteed to fly. Linking up at the beginning of the pandemic, the duo set out to create a collection of music that would transport them back to the recently closed clubs. Fusing elements of new beat, punk, dub and dark club music, 'Antídoto', which finds a home on Optimo Music Recordings, is packed with fuel to ignite the dance floor.
