Having previously celebrated the deep and colourful world of late ‘80s and early ‘80s Italian house via the popular Welcome To Paradise compilation series, Safe Trip has now turned its attention to the roots and formative years of trance music.

Planet Love: Early Transmissions 1991-95 showcases the roots and formative years of trance via 13 loved-up, psychedelic, colourful, melodious and surprisingly varied dancefloor experiments from Europe, Australia and the United States.

The compilation includes pioneering proto-trance and early trance tracks from the likes of Hawke (AKA influential San Francisco producer Gavin Hardkiss), Epilson 9, Spooky, Oliver Lieb, Holy Ghost Inc, Morgan Wild (an outfit whose members included early NYC techno titan Damon Wild), Mijk van Dijk, Glam and Paul van Dyk.

Packed with must-have cuts, slept-on gems and sought-after rarities, Planet Love: Early Transmissions 1991-95 maintains the loved-up, listenable vibe of Welcome to Paradise while broadening its musical horizons. It is not a definitive history of trance music’s early years, but rather a colourful, life-affirming celebration of the varied strands that came together to create one of dance music’s most popular and enduring styles.

For his contribution, Natural Language Processings’ “Muted Love” draws from Japan’s long legacy of rhythmic yet whimsical synth-pop and combines it with a more beat-driven style.

As the song titles suggests, you can easily get lost in this one as the mix allows space for every element - the reverbs and production techniques linger, creating a dreamy and consuming vibe whilst you groove. This is the debut solo release from @eris-drew, featuring 3 new songs meticulously mixed for the maximum impact of the Motherbeat. From the very beginning of the emergence of Eris Drew, we at IT have been blown away by the power of her DJ sets, where she channels the psychedelic energies of rave and love — the music reflects the power of transition and of fully becoming who you are. Part of what was so exciting to us is that her sets find a new path through the sounds and ideas that inspired No Way Back and so many other wonderful things. So we asked her to create an EP for IT that would reflect these ideas, and our favorite ecstatic healer delivered! Here we find her carefully exploring the intersections of House and Breakbeat culture, a proto rave ecstasy music that exudes the Fluids of Emotion, higher consciousness and the conceptual art of the KLF.

Eris has previously released on a compilation on Needs Not For Profit, and a split EP with her equally inspiring partner Octo Octa, but this is her first full solo EP. This EP was recorded at Eris Drew’s parents’ home in Chicago and mixed in the Interdimensional Laboratories in Detroit with BMG.
