Let me get this barfight scenario straight: Kant is absent, Fichte is throwing punches, Schelling is admiring the aesthetic value of the conflict and Hegel is the judge of the fight who calls it only once it's over?

co-incidentally, i just saw the movie two nights ago. its on youtube with english subtitles www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYGGHlgpdlw. why would todd say its a bad movie? oh, also a biographically interesting bit of gossip: hegel wanted to and was buried next to fichte.

Actually, Kant wasnt just fond of a racist joke but pioneered the concept of ‘scientific’ racism significantly ahead of its time. His racism was really quite extreme  

Could the Lacanian correction of Fichte be that ‘things only count insofar as the Other posits them to count’? Or even ‘things only count insofar as i posit the Other to count them’?

Do you think maybe Fichte gets forgotten precisely because he cuts through in so much clearer of a way than Kant or Hegel?
