WIFI GOLD from Dortmund, Germany is blending synthesizers, saxophone, overdriven drum machines and psychedelic rap vocals into a futuristic chaos of junk date. Quarter life crisis jazz, 404 error pages and cracked iPhone displays meet Miles Davis at Berghain, Gucci Mane ambient and Aphex Twin RnB.
For his debut single he invited one of Baltimore’s most promising artists: Bailey Straughn is a blue collar bandit who has been rapping his ass off for almost a decade. 
With a versatile range of styles, the 25-year-old is giving you the soundtrack for either questioning your life while smoking a whole pack of cigarettes in a parking lot, putting the pedal to the metal in your 2006 Honda Civic or trying to reanimate your passed out friend at the local strip club’s bathroom floor. 
“Sunbeam” is the unique result of a transatlantic partnership with some strange bleeps, hard hitting 808s, jazz guitars and some catchy flows.

Goethebunker Podcast #20 - Mr. Fries

Early last year we played at the small but perfectly formed, Oma Doris club in Dortmund. 
One of the residents that night was a young DJ by the name of Mr Fries, who during the night handed us a CD of demos.

Immediately impressed with what we heard, the idea of an EP was formed. 
Nearly a year later we are proud to present the newest member of the pack!

First up on remix duties is Hodini whose recent EP on Max Graef and Glenn Astro, Money $ex Records has been on constant rotation since it's release.

Hodini is an alias of prolific German Hip-Hop producer, Hulk Hodn and a major influence on Mr Fries who has sighted he was one of reason he was one of the main reasons he started to make beats. 

To round of the EP we've enrolled long time friend Garth BE. The artist featured previously on WOLFEP003 back in 2009 with All The Thrills. Since then he has setup the fantastic Sweet Sticky Records, releasing two full length LPs to great acclaim.

Dortmund hero Mr. Fries @mrfries is back on Alelah Records. The Lyon-based label, founded by LB aka LABAT, already featured Fries' works on two firsts VA releases.  

With "No Words", Mr. Fries delivers what he does best: a true house cut filled with a deep mystic atmosphere. It has that 'moodymann-esque' live-recorded production feeling, that smokey jazz club ambience, and we love it. Still, do not be worried, here we deal with a pure house track featuring a dynamic rhythm with afro influences leading the track throughout its 6 minutes.

Born in Dortmund, he has been a busy musician and producer for almost 10 years and produced as “Mr. Fries" electronic music influenced by Jazz and Funk.
