Lunatica Borghesia sees emerging Italian producer KOKO come into his powers in a 6-track EP which, at times seems suited to accompany a blissful reverie, and at others a rave in a rainforest. Either way, Lunatica Borghesia is about escaping.

The first two tracks capture deep house in its truest essence: at once meditative, melancholic and serene.The blissed-out piano chords and cymbal strokes ‘you can’t buy luxury’ lend the opening track a nocturnal jazz feel which is carried through to ‘Ego Borghese’ where it is heightened by the melodic cries of a saxophone. Instrumentation maintains its primacy in ‘Listening to Some Impala in Coventry’ as staccato flutes guide the subtle bongo-sounding percussion which gives the track its swing. The next two tracks - ‘9,99€’ and ‘Pegasus’ - are for the dance floor. Whilst the synth-driven melody and acid undertones of ‘9,99€’ sees the EP at its most retro, the final track ‘Tradizione Tradimento’ is a brilliantly modern take on garage house which lets the listener settle back into the groove after being rowsed by ‘Pegasus’’ driving pulse.

After getting glimpses of Denyl Brook’s production prowess in recent collaborations with the likes of Shall Not Fade family members THEOS and Romeo Louisa, we welcome him to the groove-focused, dancefloor-oriented Killer Cuts series to which he delivers 6 feel-good house bangers in his signature funk-infused style.

If groove is the word, then Denyl Brook is your man. An incredibly prolific producer, in the space of his relatively short career the Marseille-born Silver Steps Records boss has been responsible for an impressive output, released via his own imprint as well as labels such as Basement Discos and House Cookin’ Records.

Leaping Tenacity EP into action is the sunshine-dipped, serotonin-saturated ‘Baby It’s You’ which comes complete with a skippy house beat and syrup-smooth vocal licks before ‘Take Me Higher’ takes things deeper, cool oozing from its funk-infused bassline. ‘His Name’ takes us right back to the dance floor, where we will remain firmly-footed for the next two up. Arpeggiating synth tickles and luscious pads illuminate the aptly-titled ‘Bliss’ before ‘Hear Me’ awakens us from our reverie with a hard-hitting pulse and low-frequency acid melody. Finally, ‘My Friend Barry’ sees the EP at its most stripped-back - deep house in its purest form: meditative yet steeped in sex appeal.

Ben Gomori, label head of Monologues Records and Stern Edits, might be one of the busiest men in the industry today. When he's not providing us with the freshest dance music through his two labels, Ben can be seen spending his "leisurely" time hosting podcasts, radio shows, and video series like Turned On, Monologues and RecordReplay. If that wasn't enough, Ben puts on club night fundraisers for Help Refugees and the highly esteemed album listening sessions Pitchblack Playback. We honestly do not know where the man finds the time, but he does.

Given his absurd work rate, we were not surprised to learn back in July that Ben Gomori also produces under the previously anonymous moniker G. Markus. Mr. Gomori's reasoning for starting the project was "[...] to make deeper, freakier, trackier stuff than I was known for under my own name. It was a breath of fresh air starting from a blank canvas and sending music to labels anonymously with no preconceptions, having no social media and so on."

Whether he's releasing music under his own name or G. Markus, one can argue that Ben has a knack for making edits that rivals any of his contemporaries today. And this unique skill is on full display throughout his latest track titled "Red E," in which he takes on an 80's classic. Using the infectious vocal sample as a centerpiece, Ben chooses to pair it with an equally catchy assortment of lively piano house melodies and cheeky synths that are reminiscent of greats like Kerri Chandler.
