Wil Russoul wrote this song back in 2000 to memorialize both his love for the great fishing areas around Grays Harbor and for his 90 year old neighbor Mr. Johnson who fished the Wynoochee River everyday was open. Mr Johnson recently hung up his fishing pole after breaking his hip but his stories are alive.  Wil and his friends keep Mr. Johnson supplied with Steelhead and Salmon :)

Mr Johnson is very quiet and seemed to always have a steelhead he was cleaning.  He uses very old gear and just brings the whole romance of fishing alive.  He said he has studied the Wynoochee River since childhood and can tell you every inch of the river and what the fish do along with why and when.  Mr. Johnson shared his love of incoming tides and hence the this song came into being.  

Wil loves this photo for Monte Town as it has fish running, Elk crossing and a bird watching over it all.  While this photo was taken Wil's friend Clint had a salmon on his line.

Wil Russoul wrote this song in 2003 while crows were all cawing in a gang on his roof.  He felt like the crows were an extended caucus of others who were engaging in a black storm of gossip in which he was trying to survive.

My Mind

Wil Russoul writes and sings mostly acoustic driven songs about life, love, and his circumstances living in the colorful world around him.  His lyrics and melodies are designed to encourage him and hopefully you.

Growing up nearly deaf till age 15, Wil Russoul hears and feels music a little differently then most of us do.  Once his hearing came, he traded a bike and a bow/arrow set for a couple guitars and then realizing he could not sing songs he liked on the radio he instead became determined to writing his own in order to have something to play.  

Self taught and motivated Wil Russoul grew up as a missionary's child traveling throughout the Caribbean.  Living in places like Dominica, Puerto Rico and even Mexico he was removed from the commercial music scene therefore he is most comfortable creating and crafting his own version of songs and instrumentals.  Once you hear his style you will enjoy his versatility and uniqueness in his music.

With his love to share his music and perform with others Wil Russoul founded Stone Soup Artists, LLC Jan 2015 to create a community of artists who together can collaborate and encourage one another to grow each other’s crafts.  Stone Soup not only fosters music but also art and creates/expands local venues.  

Stone Soup is as unique as Wil Russoul and when combined with all the local artists, musicians, songwriters, bands, poets, magicians and supporters you find a wonderful unstoppable mix of talent.  The recipe of Stone Soup is a fun friendly family combining with local businesses, agencies and activities who partner, volunteer and share resources to further develop the music & arts culture in the Twin Harbors.
