Ojalá is a slippery rola, cat-calling to the cosmos in stretched out summertime chants. The saunter is propelled in slithering twists and sways by fluid percussion, trumpets, guitar, keys and bass. For the fifteenth installment of our Movements series we are delighted to have Melbourne based producer Joe Miller step up to the tables. With releases on All Day I Dream, Dream Culture, L’enfant Terrible, Traum, and Manual Music, Miller has cultivated an ethereal and meditative sound that irrespective of mood upon entry, basks the listener in an angelic symphony which quickly departs terra firma to soar amongst the cirrus clouds. One need only look as far as Miller’s A side ‘A Sudden Taste of Redemption’ on his latest release with Dream Culture to wander in the contemplative wonderland of his imagination.

Aside from his talents in production, the set Miller has delivered is nothing short of stunning. Oft being adept in production does not necessarily translate to talent in the mix, but for Miller this could not be farther from the case. Here he has crafted a delicate and mesmerizing voyage, that sets off from Mazzy Star’s bonfire appropriate folk ballad ‘Into Dust' serenely lifting you up and up and away.

This week celebrates 3 years of Gold Prospector and we wanted to start off the new season with new music. So we thought it would be nice to drop our first compilation for our global family.

Whether you have been supporting us since day one, months ago, or just discovered us, it's all love and we appreciate each and every one of you. Your support will never go unnoticed. It's amazing how much the sound has progressed in a short time. With the help of platforms like Soundcloud & Repost Network, we have been able to rise into the label, culture, and platform that we are today.

We've taken dozens of tracks into consideration to curate the finest selection of progressive music from around the world to bring visibility to our emergent movement.

Because there is so much talent out there, it was challenging to pull this compilation together to showcase a progression and cohesive flow that reflects our fully culture. So we have decided to creating different acts with different ambiences. This is the first act called "Night Drive" that is about taking your time and remembering how to breathe, as opposed to filling up your routine all at once.

Although each track is stylistically distinct, the compilation is tied together by a strong human feel achieved through endless experimentation with live performance and recording techniques. Each song offers a certain story-telling of surroundings and everyday experiences, and one can relate to this journey in a real and tangible way.

You will see familiar official Gold Prospector artists on this compilation as well some new talent from forward-thinking and ambitious producers, emcees and vocalists that we're excited about and feel have a bright future.

We've always celebrated diversity in the label and will continue to shine light on all forms of creative expression. We look forward to continuing on our journey with you as we collectively push honest music, encourage each other to stay creative and really just inspire others to do what they love.

Holy Hive, the group that coined the genre Folk/Soul, comes out swinging with this monster Single. “Oh I Miss Her So” is pulled from their upcoming release Harping EP: a drop dead gorgeous tune of love and longing featuring the harping of Mary Lattimore. The tune serves as a testament to The Hive’s gift for songwriting and arrangement, taking the listener on a ride from the first notes of Paul’s falsetto to the outro featuring Dave Guy’s (The Roots) gorgeous trumpet solo.

The Anne EP is the afterword to Joseph Shabason’s acclaimed 2018 full-length Anne through which he examined and processed his mother’s struggle with Parkinson’s disease.  Employing a small supporting cast that includes vocalist Dan Bejar (Destroyer) and guitarist Thomas Gill (Owen Pallett), Anne EP spotlights the Toronto saxophonist as he builds empathic tropospheres of woodwinds and synthesizers, deepening the sentiment established by the EP's companion album, which was released in November 2018.  The detail and idiosyncrasy beneath the material's dawn-of-the-CD-era sheen, elevates Shabason's work far beyond mere aesthetic exercise, cementing jazz, ambient sound design, and new age revivalism into a timely new genre all his own.

The Heavy Steps Of Dreaming’ is the brilliant debut album from Vancouver-based Minor Pieces, a new songwriting partnership comprising acclaimed singer/composer Ian William Craig and newcomer Missy Donaldson, a singer and multi-instrumentalist. Retaining some of the textural play and experimentation of Ian’s solo material whilst channeling it squarely within the domain of tangible songwriting, the pair utilise guitar, modified tape decks, bass and synths to fashion deeply-felt songs with their beautifully matched male/ female vocals standing resolutely centre-stage. Taking influence and inspiration from the likes of Low, Grouper, Mazzy Star, Portishead, My Bloody Valentine, Talk Talk and Cat Power, ‘The Heavy Steps Of Dreaming’ sounds at once familiar whilst forging something new, unique and beyond the sum of its influences.
