First time recording a poem I wrote today

A Pretend World

So many things have been playing on my mind, the poets mind a bizarre beast which he himself struggles to find, playing the role of the eyes to the blind, describing the world to those who can't see the shit left behind, the blood and bone we grind.

Pens pushing profound presentations presenting placebos perfectly portraying punished preadolescent pornographic perversions, purposely peppering pre-emptive preconceptions. Premature people populate perpetually. Pretending proper proprietary, pitiful puppets pretending plausible pinnacle pleasures. Punishable plights permanently puncturing powerful pleas... pleading... 'play peacefully'...Painfully, preachers pray, perishable premonitions prevail... Replanned performances parading past...

A sad state of affairs when you realise nobody really cares, so much so I went to a place I used to call home, alas all I found was an empty tome. Like a ghost people passed me by, like a ghost I had no tears to cry. My parents the only connection really left, friends it seems have faded, my memories left cold and jaded. Left to wonder who was ever truly in my corner. Do I bring it upon myself, do I push them all away, do I somehow hurt them and fail them each and every mother fucking day. Am I so different and fucked up that to my face they can't say... Can't say, why the fuck they can't stay.

Should I just conform to a world battle torn, where only hatred is born, where masks of deceit the only expression worn.

A world left baron, compassion smoulders and crumbles at the hands of artificial tyrants. Powered by material greed, on false hope people starve while they feed. A world of shattered dreams and the valleys echo painful screams, of the murdered and metaphorically maimed. The women body shamed and the men, slaves, chained.

A world I despise where the corrupt rise and the innocent die. A world where the dead are told they're alive, told to dream big and constantly strive... Too bad they aren't told the truth... They will never survive, never thrive, and the fortunes they seek... Hell, they were never there to arrive.

A poem I wrote as a dedication to the brotherhood of soldiers

An Unsung Oath

Before the break of dawn,
Two friends an oath sworn,
"If today your soul is torn,
Your name shall go to my son first born."

A grim reality of twisted morality,
So many stripped of a life of longevity,
Man against man, new levels of brutality,
Daily reminded of their mere mortality.

Two friends since school, together they fight,
For their family at home and the man on the right,
The day yet to break bringing their hell to light,
A dance of death by the shadows who fell in the night.

Five years having passed and new life appears,
Their smiles bittersweet as he withheld the tears,
Five years to the day this child, your name he bears,
In time to come he'll learn of valour, sacrifice and fears.

Now time has come and gone, two graves before me,
In one rests my father, the other has my name for all to see,
Their story unsung to the masses yet it echoes like many at Gallipoli,
May they march proud for their oath has come to be.

Do We Ever Think...

We often take for granted the life which we are given,
How often do we hear regrets of a life only half driven,
Do we ever take the time to appreciate, what it is to live,
To enjoy the beauty of this world and the wonders it has to give.

The current of our life carries us down a river,
The twists, and turns, and change of pace, often make us shiver,
Do we ever take the time, to look towards the future.
To just go with the flow and see the bigger picture.

Every moment in time, passing every secon'
Gently flowing past like a breeze across the ocean.
The time to work, the time to play, and the time to love,
Do we ever take the time to just relax, and enjoy the clouds above.

Every kiss and every touch of that, one, special person.
The feeling in your heart that you can't explain with reason.
The time you spend together should be cherished more than treasure.
Do we ever take the time to think, some things can, last forever.

How often do we sit and think of better times gone by,
That sinking sensation saying it's just not worth it to try,
To make the effort to dedicate your time,
Do we ever take the time to think, only you can make your light shine.

Do we ever take the time to think, time itself is never changing...
do we ever take the time to think, your life is your own, make it amazing...
do we ever take the time to think, let your heart be your head and let it think...
do we ever take the time to think, that maybe we should just take the time to think.
