This interview is dedicated to Dave Plug 2 of De La Soul, who passed away recently. The interview hasn't been played since it aired on 90. 3 FM WBAU on August 30, 1993! On The Hip Hop Spot, WildMan Steve and DJ Riz gave a legendary performance! That evening was Old School Flava night, when Troy Swift, Riz, and I would perform classic joints and joints that had previously been sampled on records! We were among the first to do this before WhoSampled! Riz went deep in the crates that night, playing classic joints! Riz starts off the set playing Grand Wizard Theodore & The Fantastic Romantic 5!! He also played T Ski Valley, Spoonie Gee, T LA Rock, and more classic joints!! Riz was on fire when it came to chopping up the classic joints! In the studio that night, we interviewed De La Soul!! It's been a long time since they were in the building! Mase came through in 1988 for the WBAU fund raiser!! They came through to promote their new single, Breakadawn, from their upcoming album Buhloone Mindstate! Early in the interview, Pos talks about me being the first to play Plugtunin and Sally by Stetsasonic!! I had forgotten about that!! We also talked about how Dope of an artist they are with their flow and lyrical skills!! The show was very upbeat and Dope!! I always enjoyed it when they came through; being from Strong Island, they gave so much love! Listen and enjoy this classic interview!!
