Heute dürfen wir euch eine ganz besondere Ausgabe unseres Projektes präsentieren, nämlich eine Live-Aufnahme vom 21.08. vom Sisyphos Strand von dem lieben Luca Musto.

Den aus dem Allgäu stammenden Produzenten und DJ darf man guten Gewissens als echte Koryphäe der (smoothen) Downtempo Bewegung bezeichnen, seine Sounds, die von Soul, Hip Hop, Jazz und weiteren Genres geprägt sind, erschallen nun schon seit etlichen Jahren auf diversen Soundsystemen in Wohnzimmern und Clubs gleichermaßen.

Bei diesem extenden Set zeigt er seine große Bandbreite und wer an diesem Tag im Sisyphos das Vergnügen hatte, zu dem Sound zu tanzen, kann sich sicher noch gut daran erinnern. Umso schöner also, dass nun auch alle anderen Hörer in den Genuss kommen, danke dir Luca und euch nun viel Vergnügen beim Nachtanzen!

Ich kann es fast nicht in Worte fassen, wieviel es mir bedeutet euch heute den Ausnahme-Künstler Holger Hecler auf sound(ge)cloud zu präsentieren. Bow Freudensprünge im Quadrat !!! 

Es war im Jahre 2012, ich war noch ganz frisch hier auf soundcloud, da bin ich über Holgers BachstelzenFusion 2012 Set gestolpert und war vom ersten Moment von seinem unwiderstehlichen Sound total überwältigt. Dieses Set ist mein meistgehörtes Set EVER. Und immer wenn ich denke bow heute ist irgendwie nicht mein Tag … werfe ich dieses Set an und sofort ist alles wieder gut.

Holger Hecler ist seit über 20 Jahren ein fester Bestandteil der Berliner Club Kultur. Ob beim Kollektiv Bachstelzen oder dem Kater Blau (Bar25), Holger ist immer dort wo Happenings entstehen die weit über Zeit und Raum hinausgehen. Seine zweite Heimat hat er auch beim grandiosen Kölner Label Feines Tier gefunden.

Es ist immer wieder faszinierende wie Holger es schafft Einflüsse verschiedenster Kulturen in eine Grundteppich von House und Techno zu verweben. Mal fängt die Reise in Südamerika an und schon steht man wieder auf einem Basar in Istanbul, um dann doch wieder mitten in Berlin auf dem Dancefloor die Augen zu öffnen und in glücklich lachende Tänzer zu blicken.

Holger viel Dank für deine Mühe und die Möglichkeit diese wunderbare Weltreise meinen Hörern präsentieren zu können.

In diesem Sinne --- „canto a la paz“ oder „Singen für den Frieden“ … die Welt kann es gebrauchen <3 <3 <3

The Austrian born, Berlin-based Luis Rosenberg has a refined taste for music that makes him truly un-prejudiced. He doesn’t discriminate in his choices - as long as it has groove, it will catch his ear. Luis tends to select tracks for his eclectic sets that are interchangeably timeless, unique and innovative

Luis Rosenberg joined us for Kantocast 007 and here are some questions he answered for us.

What pushed you towards DJing? 

I started to go out when I was about 15 years old. Very early on I was fascinated about DJing and vinyl in particular. I thought it was a really cool thing to play music hundreds of people would move to. And I was right, it's awesome :) 

Where did the inspiration come from? 

Hip-hop was the main source of influence in the beginning. I thought scratching was a fantastic way to create something completely new from existing sources. I have watched the scene from "La Haine" where DJ Cut Killer mixed "Sound of da Police" with Edith Piaf at least 1000 times. 

Do you think music interconnects with culture? 

Absolutely. The best example is what's currently happening with house music. As the world around us becomes more hectic, the music seems to slow down drastically.  

How does the environment you live in affect your music? 

Living in Berlin definitely influences the music I play. Not only because of all the great artists and bands here but also because of the people around me who seem to create or listen to music on a non-stop basis which constantly delivers new input for me. That's fantastic. 

Do you get inspired by any other form of arts? 

I've recently discovered painting for myself and became a big fan of classic and modern art. 

What makes a set a good set? 

For me, it’s all about diversity. If a set has no ups and downs, different moods or changing themes it’s nothing for me. I also like natural influences a lot. Everything around bongos, animal sounds, choirs, acoustic instruments etc. triggers my attention.  

You seem to have a wide range of sources. Is there any particular era or bands that influence you more? 

I love African, Indian, Turkish and South American things. Especially if they groove and are a little bit emotional.  

What’s the process you follow when bringing tunes together? Is it instinctive only or do you plan ahead? 

I usually plan ahead but in the end, the outcome is mostly totally different than I've initially planned it to be. 

What would you like to say about your podcast?

It was nice to record this set for Safak aka Oceanvs Orientalis because he actually played a vital role in bringing in the Turkish influence. I've tried to include that but everything turned out a bit differently of course.

Telecast - #021 - Telecasting to the cosmos!
As we sit at home, we find ourselves anew and see things in a new light. So did I. Inspired by numerous sets out there, I’ve been going into my own musical history to find forgotten gems of my youth (Mark Knopfler & Pete Philly & Perquisite), new artists I fell in love with (J.J. Cale & Kevin Morby), timeless classics (Nina Simone & George Harrison), and music with Dutch lyrics (Spinvis & Wim de Craene).

This special Telecast stems from a desire to listen to and work with different music. The music I normally listen to just isn’t cutting it at the moment and is propelling me to shake things up a little. My desire to listen to something that gives comfort and is emotionally uplifting to help me through times of distress is what brought this mix to light. 

This Telecast is filled with music that invokes memories from my past. From the time I set sail every weekend with my best friend from high school, the time when I was singing of the top of my lungs while driving around artists for a festival, the time when I felt pure happiness just walking around a train station listening to music on my way to meet friends, a time when I found out that the group of people I hung out with weren’t who I thought they were, a time when I rode back to Portugal and didn’t get further than Ghent, a time when I had no idea who I was and found solace in music, a time when I found big emotions within me through music with Dutch lyrics, a time when… well, you get the gist.

It’s been emotional, it’s been beautiful and although I could keep working on this Telecast and endlessly tweak it, it’s now time to release it and share this with you. I hope you’ll find comfort when listening and realise that even though these times are though, they also shine new light on you and offer you a chance to change things around for the better. And, hopefully, in doing so, when things do go back to normal again you’ll find yourself stronger than ever.
