New Light

The Greek language has a word to describe an approach to doing things with passion, with all the heart: meraki. The translation represents a concept that cannot be translated in one word but it means "something done with one's soul, with creativity, effort and a lot of love".

This is a recording of the late part of my set at La Cuisine in Quebec City on August 5, 2022. What a night, a few days later I'm still buzzing from the vibe we had going on.

The warmth from the crowd melted away my capacity to overthink while mixing; it was a moment pure flow, fun and mutual trust—meraki. I am truly blessed to play at La Cuisine with such an open an energetic crowd. You keep surprising me!

Most of my previous mixes on SoundCloud were recoded for listening purpose and lack some of the energy and risk taking that only happen live. This set is a better representation of what I play late at night, when the senses take over, when the knobs and the dancefloor are cranked up. It features some amazing new releases and some old gems.

Montreal, I'm eager to make you dance too at the Nhau Bar and Front Republic festival in the following weeks. Dates in bio!

Anjers - Sultana (Cafe De Anatolia)

To move to a new city is to have the chance to live many things for the first time. Of all of them, the Front Republic festival was without a doubt the highlight of my move to Montreal. The people, the freedom, the music and everything in-between has made dreams become reality and vice-versa.

This is a recording of the set I played opening the stage on Saturday afternoon under perfect sunshine and scenery ☀️ Dancers, swimmers and beautiful souls of all kinds gathered to kickoff the second day. This set explores deeper and transcendental sounds while remaining warm and inviting for the afternoon.

I am beyond grateful to have been part of this festival and community, hats off to the FrontRite crew for making this possible. Whether it's for music or to hand out grilled cheeses you can count on me to be there in 2023 ❤️ Until then, see you on a dancefloor in Montreal or Quebec!

Anjers @ Front Republic 2022, The Collective Dream

It has been two years since I quit psychedelic music cause I had lost interest. The direction this genre took made it harder and harder for me to find what drew me to it in the first place, some deep, creative, serious, spiritual music. To find it again I had to search elsewhere and found it 20 BPM below, in what we can call deep. After this time I’ve spent exploring and discovering, I’m happy to be back with this mix that represents everything I seek and love in electronic music.

I'm happy to share this mix after being silent for a while on SoundCloud, partly because I've been blessed to do continuous gigs until the lockdown.

When we get caught up with work or our daily routines, it can be difficult to pay proper attention to other things we value. Sometimes by sheer will or by outside forces, the status quo is broken to make way for new experiences that heighten our senses. It is in its contrast that life is lived most intensely, that the absence of a loved one is felt or that beauty does not leave us stone-cold.

This is a live set that I recorded without any theme or intention in mind after a moment of emotional challenge for loved ones, it is the expression of my feelings full of contrasts at that moment. For Emma & Axel. Recorded at La Cuisine in Quebec City.

Anjers is an emerging DJ and producer now based in Montreal, Canada. In a short time, he has made waves in the underground scene with frequent bookings at the Nhau Bar in Montreal and La Cuisine in Quebec City. He is a musical storyteller with the ability to tailor the right atmosphere for every moment and to light up the dance floor.

Founder of the Deeper Tones venues and opening act for many international artists, music is for him more than sound but an experience that should touch the soul as much as it lifts the dance floor. It is by blurring the lines between the musical genres that he delivers a wide variety of house music with a contagious energy and passion.

After a decade of DJing and musical curation, it is time for him to share his vision through music production. His first track, Sultana, released on the flagship label Cafe De Anatolia.
