Italy via Shanghai is the route taken for the debut E.P of Neapolitan producer Altieri, aka Eugenio Altieri. A designer living in Shanghai, Eugenio started to make music back in 2004, mixing music and visuals to create his “weirdo production” sessions. After traveling east he founded the DesToys duo, a live project that channelled space disco and 80s commercial music.

Edo is a personal view over the modern Asia, Japan in this case. Inspired by the street sounds and bugged out day to day world of Tokyo his debut EP is four tracks of slippery head music. Chiseled from the deep seams of an intergalactic mine and informed by the dark heart of house and no wave disco this is club music from the oily underbelly.

The room was crowded with a sea of anonymous faces. Champagne flutes held high, people milled about amongst the marble columns and the huge red velvet drapes that hung from the intricately decorated ceiling. There was an air of dissonance in the room. You could feel that something was brewing. A lady clad in red tapped her glass and cleared her throat summoning eyes upon her. She could feel the intensity of their stares searing into her skin, but she didn't care much. She knew that half of the people here wanted to be her and the other feared her. She held the power in this room. 

The Golden Filter are set to release Restraint, a mini-LP on Dischi Autunno. The entirety of the release is threaded together via 808 drum machines, with the two reworks of the title track, from Lokier and Kluentah, opting for crisp broken beat rhythms.

With its swerving bass slithering over a slow tempo, Leopard Gum is the perfect slow burner, a slice of comatose disco that will find its way to the darkest corners of nightlife – and haunt its DJ sets. Alexander Pletnev started an entirely new journey under his own name two years ago. Release after release on forward thinking and respected labels like Media Fury, KUMP, Fleeting Wax, SZE and Hard Fist, he has built a solid discography of incredible diversity - from percussive DJ tools to viscous synthetic EBM to dreamy weirdness.
His latest EP titled "Voranto Bros" is a long awaited return to Le Temps Perdu and the prime example of refined musical storytelling. Title track is a cinematic tale, a sound novel about two migrant brothers hitting the shores of USA in the dawn of XXth century to became vicious gangsters, broken souls ruling the night of NYC. Dusty tape hiss, off kilter percussions and melodies all alternate to later sink under the weight of heavy drums. While Hope They Wont Come Back is a severe instrumental ballad with low drums, talking bass lines and noisy guitar riffs - five minutes inside confused man's mind.
On a remix front, Cocktail D'Amore's head honchos Discodromo strip Voranto Bros down to bear bones to deliver EBM style dance floor burner. And Harold Boué aka Abstraxion aka Lion's Drums of Biologic Records fame delivers menacing remix for Hope They Won't Come Back, a dark & mystic journey, which unwinds slowly and builds up to unexpected climax.

A suite just as much as an EP, V presents ‘Confusion’ in three clear chapters: the strident, synth-swathed dubby disco lead cut that works perfectly as a transition from light to dark at any stage of the night; the much more spacious and anthemic ‘Confusion Totale’ raises the bar higher with sinewy acid and crisp breakbeats before ‘Confusion Finale’ concludes the tale with poignancy. Near beatless, wrapped snugly in a shoegaze sheen and led with crisp early 80s guitars, it’s the perfect farewell. Or if you mix them another way, it’s the perfect intro…

What the Youth Music Foundation do: “Each year more than 350 Youth Music projects are happening across England. That’s around 83,000 children and young people regularly making music. We invest in music-making projects where they’re really needed. Bringing opportunities for children to learn a new musical genre in a town where not much happens. Supporting a ground-breaking initiative in a deprived part of a city. Responding to difficult challenges like young people at risk of radicalisation.
Communities divided by prejudice or gangs can be brought together to perform. Writing lyrics can enable a bereaved teenager to express their grief. Making hip-hop beats can help a kid understand maths in a way they never grasped at school.
Being young can be hard. And we know that troubles don’t end the moment you hit 18. That’s why we work with children and young people from the moment they’re born right up until the age of 25.”
