Realisation of Michael Pisaro's Only [harmony series no. 17], recorded on Clapham Common on the morning of 14 September 2016. The score calls for several long, quiet tones to be made in a large space. The piece is dedicated to Manfred Werder, whose own practice it closely resembles. The score includes a poem by Kenneth Rexroth. Eight years ago several realisations of Only were made in a project curated by Jason Brogan for Compost & Height. performed at café Oto in London (22nd February 2018) by Antoine Beuger (voice), John Eyles (voice), Alex Mah (voice), Artur Vidal (voice), Petri Huurinainen (acoustic guitar, ebow),  Emmanuelle Waeckerle (ektarat) for "SPEAK// IF YOU CAN”: TEXT, SCORES, PERFORMANCE, two evenings of performances of text based scores by Antoine Beuger and Emmanuelle Waeckerlé.

O(nly) is the third track on the Ode (owed) to O double cd (edition Wandelweiser records, 2017) based on Pauline Réage’s book Story of O (1954). It is impossible to alter the very graphic words of the infamous original story, yet one can attempt to change the way they are consumed and shared.  O is released from her story. Voices and instruments are invoquing her again and again, as if inviting her to join them.

Ode (owed) to O

This is the Moth. A fairly good sized moth was flapping around in my garage window the other day so I recorded it with a Sennheiser MKH-8060. I used the proximity effect of the 8060 to get a nice deep wing flap sound. There also was a smaller moth type insect that stopped by and I got it also. It looked like a fat green moth variant. This sound is FREE to download for a limited time at 24Bit 48K. The complete files will be available soon in a new HD sound effects collection.

Random found sound... two plastic tubes left over from some construction work provide a form for a resonant filter effect of passing traffic. Recorded with two Primo EM172 capsules and an Olympus LS-10 recorder.
